Joan of Arc, 1412-1431

Martyr, Saint and Military Leader

Joan of Arc kneeling before Angel, by Henryk Siemiradzki

A Look into Joan of Arc through the storytelling of Mark Twain

I like Joan of Arc best of all my books; and it is the best; I know it perfectly well. And besides, it furnished me seven times the pleasure afforded me by any of the others; twelve years of preparation, and two years of writing. The others needed no preparation and got none.

All through recorded history Great Souls have appeared bringing in a nobler vision for humanity. Joan of Arc was one of these souls; she was a courageous, single-minded, confident, humble, brave at death, and completely loyal to God and the Catholic Church soul.
