Pythagoras taught that numbers are helpful for us in practical, intellectual and spiritual development. He said the vibration of single digit numbers pertained to humans on earth, and therefore the numbers zero through nine had great meaning for us.

All knowledge serves a purpose of enrichment. And where it is spiritual instruction it has the utmost of help for us because it enables us to conquer wasted time. It gives us the stimulus to be more useful, to have more profound and selfless motivations. It challenges the beginning of mastery in us. It enables us to aspire for that time in which we will be given missions, and enriched, those qualities that have become skilled are put to fullest use for our Lord's sake.
