Characteristics of Initiates

Sunday, February 1, 1959 (106-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower discusses many of the spiritual giants who have been among us. We can best understand these souls if we realize that they too have been human, but have evolved slowly and purposefully and meaningly into the hierarchal places to which they were appointed by the Divine decider of all things. Qualities required of initiates include simplicity, self-surrender, humility, reverence, courage, generosity, lifting. Initiates avoid excess, maintain balance, avoid spiritual absorption and selfishness. Enlightened ones come in with fresh interpretation of Truth. True initiates have no egotism, no superiority to force on others, but does hold true to what he knows, and will defend that, even against death.

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseThis talk illustrates the evolutionary path of perfection by introducing us to the existence and service of the great hierarchy of perfected beings known as Masters. One need not have direct contact with Them to become aware of Them. One needs only to be sensitively alert and receptive, and desirous of knowing Truth. Masters can reveal to us what we are in the process of becoming. These Great Souls have all the virtues of character raised to its highest strength. They have outgrown earth.

Duty’s Great Purpose

Sunday, September 13, 1959 (117-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower Newhouse teaches us the importance of living a purposeful, dedicated Christ-consecrated life. We have a karmic duty to our parents, our children, our sisters and brothers, our husbands or wives, our friends, our spiritual family and a duty to God for the upliftment of mankind. If we fail to give service in these relationships, our penalties are compounded with interest and we will face a lack of caring similar to what we inflict on others. Our tendency is to rejoice in some relationships and evade others, but dharma, the principle of right selection, is the law for the evolving soul. When we grow in spiritual stature and understand duty we can no longer fail.

The Reality of the Christ Hierarchy

Sunday, December 13, 1959 (121-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseEmmanuel means God with us and it refers to the spiritual title given to this soul who also bore the name of Jesus when he became spiritually of age and took upon Himself the mantle of the Christ. We should call Him by the spiritual title. Our Lord was human, but He more quickly had the power of excellence, that supreme ability to surrender himself, and to give himself to that which is higher than anyone else that has evolved through the earth. There are many perfected souls; that option is open to all, and all are evolving toward it. Before the Lord Emmanuel, the Lord Maitreya was the Christ of our planet. Our Lord is the supreme officiant of humanity. Reading of Flower's favorite excerpts from the Gospel According to Thomas. Past lives of Jesus as Joshua, David, and Ikhnaton. Jesus as Lord and Master.

Postscript to Christmas

Sunday, December 27, 1959 (121-2)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseChristmas is such a high planetary experience. It is a perpetual baptism of spirit. Christmas can only be celebrated from the soul. We should deeply consider taking a part of our work for the new year, the promise to love spiritually, think spiritually, and will spiritually. Christmas is aligned to these powers and reflections of spirit. We want only that love which is spiritual. Love which is emotional is prideful, exclusive, it is critical, it is selfish. This day is what the Christ spirit needs to have as outposts of its consciousness. If we become instruments of its force, we may be sure that the power will flow through if we have the instrument ready. Gifts should be given all year, not just at Christmas. Describes a trip to Allentown where she met cousins. Describes the use of a strong archtypal word to help us through an ordeal.

Meaning of the Spiritual Sun

Sunday, January 10, 1960 (125-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseSince earliest times God was thought of as great light and in the Christian faith we read our God is a consuming light. Light as in the form of fire is the purest of all elements, indeed it is so pure that very few spiritual individuals understand it on this earth and very few scientist's will ever know it in its entirety. We should think about this glorious light and this spiritual fire by which we are invested because we know that the greatest souls of earth have been the fire bands of spirit. And we know that whereever there's one awakened by God, that fire of spirit will be found through him with ever successively awakening light within others. So in deed we turn our thoughts to this subject of fire and of light and of the spiritual sun and of the solar logos itself with renewed impetus.

The Way of Holiness

Sunday, March 6, 1960 (126-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseAll of us must find oasis, a holy island, in our calendar and in our ongoing through the years, Lent is one of the finest of them. It is a time when outer distractions are deliberately put aside when the highest in us tells us the trivialities and pretenses and expectations and worldliness and all the things that are a part of the unregenerate life need to be set distinctly apart; way outside the territory of our given attention for we in this new period are wholly concentrating upon the reason for our incarnation That is the meaning behind Lent. One great soul the greatest that this humanity has produced, the Lord Christ, showed us how to live. The more we grow the more we see the greater our Lord is. And we appreciate in this holy island, this time of apartness from outer living, periods for drawing upon His matchless courage, His tremendous life, His great and inexhaustible spirituality.

Realizing the Importance of Masters

Sunday, September 18, 1960 (137-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseThere are many levels of intelligence and spiritual unfoldment represented amongst humanity and all its peoples. There have been souls who have risen from the earth's training, who have reached the first flowering, the great budding of wholeness as it pertains to this dimension. They are the perfected sons and daughters of life. We know that Osiris, Ikhnaton, and our Lord Christ, the Buddha, Lao Tzu. Confucius, Pythagoras, Quetzcoatl and many others have achieved a masterhood of intelligence, of character, of spiritual development, of mastery over their physical vehicles. When you see a Holy One, you will never be content until you yourself are complete.

The Heart’s Symbolic Function

Sunday, February 11, 1962 (174-2)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower states that by being more awakened to the superphysical aspects of the heart we may come into greater control of this wondrous center. Some individuals experience heart awakenings during their lifetime, and some are born with their heart centers already functioning. Describes the heart chakra from physical and superphysical standpoints, including the heart center on astral, mental and soul levels. Explains that it is important as we progress in our Christian experience that we love others as well as those souls in the inner kingdoms, and in doing so our hearts shall be lifted. As ones heart is lifted upward, the hearts spiritual counterparts on each level vibrate at higher and higher levels, creating greater color in every body, as well as size of heart center. Indicates that there are 714 references to the heart in the Bible, New and Old Testaments. Quotes several of these, and recommends anyone who experiences difficulty with their heart, to read and use them in their life.

The Staff of the Illumined

Sunday, April 21, 1963 (221-2)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhousePerfected souls came with powerful inspiration. Their words have been recorded down to our present day. They have a message for us which shall outlast this planet's lifetime. When we consider what a soul undergoes in the journey of evolution through this human way, we know that the human career begins at the stage of individualization. There is a long vast journey of growth and unfoldment, and then at last the first degree of initiation, or rebirth, is achieved. When this stage comes, man becomes a part of a larger order. He becomes a member of the Great White Brotherhood, and he serves no longer his own unfoldment, but the development of the world. Then there is a later stage, of the fifth initiation, when the human evolution ceases, and the superhuman evolution begins.

The Necessary Cultivation of Tranquility

Sunday, June 2, 1963 (224-2)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseAn inspiring talk for anyone striving for inner peace. At the kernel of every soul that lives in this dimension and in God's country is a center where God is, and all peace rests upon this center and man's abiding within it. To have peace we should really think of a sunburst as from within us, raying out its flashing points of light into all of our aura, and we should stand still in the mystery and the wonder of that flashing of the star of our God Self. And whenever we are inclined to be the most disturbed, we should stop and practice this attunement to the star of our inner being.

Effort without Ego

Sunday, August 11, 1963 (229-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseIt is tragic that some people never achieve freedom from themselves. They are egocentric from their birth until death. They never know what it is to have something higher than themselves that takes over and channels them. And until this happens they are in a very sorry state. It is so necessary that a man awakens to the full degree and measure of soul consciousness. When he does this he is aware that though his human self is very human and there are parts of him which are limited, there are also aspects of himself which are intoned to intelligence, capability, wonder, excellence, beauty, power, and to God.

We are a septenary or seven-fold being, and that because we are seven-fold, we have much to do in overcoming as well as raising and enhancing of these powers that belong to our inner nature. Describes the attributes of our lower quadrate (physical, etheric, astral, mental bodies) and higher triad (soul, adonai, monad), as well as the symbols, characteristics and terminology of our higher bodies. Descriptions of initiates and masters. Compares God inherent and potential with actualized and unfolded.

They Walked with God

Sunday, November 3, 1963 (235-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseNext to man's discovery of the truth of God comes the exampleship of great souls who have desired nothing so much but communion with the everlasting. We need the inspiration and the confirmations that these souls who are more advanced than ourselves have to give us. We need whatever the Saints have to say to us. We require their courage, their fortitude, their devotion. They can simplify the way of our own becoming because they are the prophecy of what we shall be ourselves one day. And therefore we should be most interested in every great soul that we learn about, for in his life and in his words and in his radiation we have something that is better than food for the body, because it is food for the soul.

The Activities of Invisible Helpers

Sunday, November 1, 1964 (262-2)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseDiscusses human helpers in the inner worlds, those who help souls who have recently come across. Servers help people who were like themselves when they left this plane. Part of their restitution is to welcome and prepare these souls. Helpers of newly transitioned souls with difficulties (suicides, murderers, murder victims) may take person to sanitaria for healing of inner bodies. Humble helper, a human being who has gone into the higher worlds ahead of the rest of us, is only allowed to help for two generations of humankind. He must know all the circumstances that this person who has newly died has been meeting. After two generations, that's impossible, as our world and its inventions progresses so fast, so; swift turnover of servers of this type. Other helpers work praying for similar persons yet on earth, helping them bring forth new developments for good.

In Everything Give Thanks

Sunday, November 21, 1965 (292-2)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseIf we are grateful, we open spiritually. We are much more sensitive and responsive or receptive to the great glories that pour forth esoterically through the Christmas season. Thanksgiving is a period in which we recapitulate, reappraise and reexpress the many things for which we are grateful. It cleanses the feelings and makes them pure and God-aligned, and brings us into condition for enlightenment. Since our nation is the cradle of the new race, America is an archetype in its highest aspirations of those qualities which we all bless. On Thanksgiving day, we repeat the summarizing of that which our soul knows to have been good for us. The more we are grateful for shelter, for the joy of our loved family, for beauty, the more we appreciate those things, without being unduly attached to them, the more we will attract still more abundantly and ever better quality will come to us.

Easter’s Meaning for Us

It is always glorious and beautiful to recognize at Easter and at Christmas how very much He has grown, and how much wider are the hosts that are about Him, and how many more persons He has claimed. The cross was not the ending for Him. It was only the beginning, and our Lord Christ is very much alive, so that we always include in addressing Him the term, Thou who art the Living Christ, because we consider that very important in rightly addressing this very great soul.

Of What Does an Ideal Awareness in Nature Consist?

Sunday, June 26, 1966 (308-2)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseThe more an individual loves nature the better is it revealed that he is advancing. The more mature the soul the deeper will be his love for the out-of-doors and for the creatures. God has placed within man an awareness, sometimes it is only intuitional but that is enough, of another kingdom; a kingdom that serves the trees, the grasses, the winds, the storm and all the loveliness of nature. And the same intuition tells us that we can receive much from this other side of life if we are open to its inner perspective.

Gratitude: A Quality of Spiritual Maturity

Sunday, November 19, 1967 (342-2)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseBefore we celebrate the initiation of rebirth and regeneration or our Lord's holy birth in us, we know the cleansing and the benediction of gratitude. Our Lord always prefaced his requests by giving thanks before he spoke for the good that he sought. Give thanks before something happens to you, and live in the expectancy and the wonder of that for which you ask and that very likely which you need. Prayers would not have any importance, any power in them, unless they have been prefaced by this feeling of gratefulness. Giving thanks is an absolute spiritual necessity for us. The constant rhythm of gratitude causes the circulation of the powers of the Soul and the Adonai to seep into and penetrate our personality selves.

The One God and the Meanings of the Other Gods

Sunday, February 18, 1968 (352-2)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseGods of ancient times are actually higher beings. There is one Supreme God, but there are other great intelligences to whom early men gave the term God. They are used by the One Great God to carry out His purposes. Early man realized that there was a Hierarchy of just souls made pure in God and that there were many branches to this stream of life force that sustained creation. There are great evolved beings who are above the rulers of the ocean, the rulers of the air and fire and water. These are the tremendous Tija. The early Grecian, Romans, Babylonians, and Persians and all of the people of those earlier times were really speaking of true intelligences.

The Quality of Mercy and How to Apply It

Sunday, July 21, 1968 (367-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseAt least ninety percent of all that blesses us is from the Spirit of Grace. A small percentage comes from what we have earned. Spirit of Grace is a great reservoir of Divine stored energy that is wholly related to and dedicated to Divine mercy and the dispensing of grace throughout the cosmos; under the dispensation of and guidance of a woman Lord called a Regina. God's givingness flows to us from the source of grace, more than from any other source. Spirit of Grace alone will give without demanding any cost whatsoever. Must not ask for grace for ourselves; only for others. We need to be channels of grace, toward ourselves and to others; younger souls who need someone to help. Small things as important as big things. Flower shares how important it is to love and care for animals.

Emmanuel: God With Us

Sunday, April 6, 1969 (389-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseEaster celebrates our Lord's victory over death and evil. He is now a transformer that touches spiritual essence throughout all regions. He is the example of what it means to think and feel and live and aspire from the soul plane. Christ's mission is to release the Divine into our conscious knowing. Beings higher than ourselves in intelligence and unfoldment carry out the purposes of our Lord, which emphasise the four cornerstones of Christianity–love, faith, kindness and integrity. As you serve the Christ, the adventure you will know of becoming more universal and more cosmic in your appreciation will be the most wondrous spiritual adventure you have ever enjoyed. Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower explains music as a path to higher consciousness. Most persons feel it on the astral; can be used to cleanse heavy emotions. Can step into mental bodies and be analytical. We can step into our soul bodies; this is harder to do; when we listen with our causal body, instead of the music being out there, and we observers, we are instead participators. On causal level we are one with everything we appreciate, and therefore when hearing great music it sounds through one. Perennial Thanksgiving

Sunday, November 19, 1972 (518-2)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseGratitude, a soulic quality, is cardinal among all virtues. Before we can love spiritually, we must have gratitude. When one expresses courteous appreciation, there is color, and it's royal purple. Story of the wise men and the sermon on the mount, and blessing things before they manifest. We need three days to do Thanksgiving properly - a day to write down our blessings, a day to come to church and give thanks, and a day for celebration with loved ones. Never be envious of anyone.
