Characteristics of Initiates

106-1 Sunday 02/01/1959

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower discusses many of the spiritual giants who have been among us. We can best understand these souls if we realize that they too have been human, but have evolved slowly and purposefully and meaningly into the hierarchal places to which they were appointed by the Divine decider of all things. Qualities required of initiates include simplicity, self-surrender, humility, reverence, courage, generosity, lifting. Initiates avoid excess, maintain balance, avoid spiritual absorption and selfishness. Enlightened ones come in with fresh interpretation of Truth. True initiates have no egotism, no superiority to force on others, but does hold true to what he knows, and will defend that, even against death.

Masters can reveal to us what we are in the process of becoming. These Great Souls have all the virtues of character raised to its highest strength. They have outgrown earth.

The Reality of the Christ Hierarchy

121-1 Sunday 12/13/1959

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseEmmanuel means God with us and it refers to the spiritual title given to this soul who also bore the name of Jesus when he became spiritually of age and took upon Himself the mantle of the Christ. We should call Him by the spiritual title. Our Lord was human, but He more quickly had the power of excellence, that supreme ability to surrender himself, and to give himself to that which is higher than anyone else that has evolved through the earth. There are many perfected souls; that option is open to all, and all are evolving toward it. Before the Lord Emmanuel, the Lord Maitreya was the Christ of our planet. Our Lord is the supreme officiant of humanity. Reading of Flower's favorite excerpts from the Gospel According to Thomas. Past lives of Jesus as Joshua, David, and Ikhnaton. Jesus as Lord and Master.

Studies in Greatness (2 of 3)

129-2 Sunday 05/22/1960

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseSpeaking of true greatness as 'moral greatness' which rises out of self-conquest, Flower laments the moral 'littleness' of Goethe and Rousseau and praises the spiritual greatness of Emanuel Swedenborg and William James. She describes the life of Swedenborg, a genuine fifth ray seer, not a mystic, detailing his evolving clairvoyance and exclusive devotion to spiritual studies in later life. She talks of one of Swedenborg's champions, William James, a thinker and philosopher who put intuition above reason and Spirit beyond intuition, as being on his way to becoming a seer of the type of Swedenborg.

Studies in Greatness (3 of 3)

130-1 Sunday 05/29/1960

Realizing the Importance of Masters

137-1 Sunday 09/18/1960

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseThere are many levels of intelligence and spiritual unfoldment represented amongst humanity and all its peoples. There have been souls who have risen from the earth's training, who have reached the first flowering, the great budding of wholeness as it pertains to this dimension. They are the perfected sons and daughters of life. We know that Osiris, Ikhnaton, and our Lord Christ, the Buddha, Lao Tzu. Confucius, Pythagoras, Quetzcoatl and many others have achieved a masterhood of intelligence, of character, of spiritual development, of mastery over their physical vehicles. When you see a Holy One, you will never be content until you yourself are complete.

Occult Factors at Work in Prayer

138-2 Sunday 10/16/1960

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower focuses on the two main reasons we pray–our need for God and our adoration for God. Flower explains why and how we should improve our prayer work. She describes what happens esoterically when prayers are said and how the Hierarchy aids our prayers. There are different types of prayers–prayers for healing, for upliftment, for attunement. They are too numerous to count. She uses Bible verses to support the importance of prayer and gives personal accounts of how prayers are answered.

Benefits from the Life of Saint Patrick

218-1 Sunday 03/17/1963

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower brings to light the way the Hierarchy chooses its ambassadors to man on earth, choosing some because of their gifts and others through channeling. St. Patrick, who was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a young man, was probably chosen because that area of the world needed Christianizing. He established three hundred and sixty churches. Alfred the Great in the ninth century was likely chosen for the purpose of unifying England which he did so well that many other kings turned their reigns over to him. Louis the Ninth demonstrated that a monarch could live purely and consecratedly. He participated in the Crusades and became known as the 'Mediator of Europe' giving advice that was always just.

The Staff of the Illumined

221-2 Sunday 04/21/1963

Lecture by Flower A. NewhousePerfected souls came with powerful inspiration. Their words have been recorded down to our present day. They have a message for us which shall outlast this planet's lifetime. When we consider what a soul undergoes in the journey of evolution through this human way, we know that the human career begins at the stage of individualization. There is a long vast journey of growth and unfoldment, and then at last the first degree of initiation, or rebirth, is achieved. When this stage comes, man becomes a part of a larger order. He becomes a member of the Great White Brotherhood, and he serves no longer his own unfoldment, but the development of the world. Then there is a later stage, of the fifth initiation, when the human evolution ceases, and the superhuman evolution begins.

Thomas Jefferson was remarkable, close to mastership, with many varied talents and author of much of the Declaration of Independence. Henry Ford was another transformer, in a practical sense. The One God and the Meanings of the Other Gods

352-2 Sunday 02/18/1968

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseGods of ancient times are actually higher beings. There is one Supreme God, but there are other great intelligences to whom early men gave the term God. They are used by the One Great God to carry out His purposes. Early man realized that there was a Hierarchy of just souls made pure in God and that there were many branches to this stream of life force that sustained creation. There are great evolved beings who are above the rulers of the ocean, the rulers of the air and fire and water. These are the tremendous Tija. The early Grecian, Romans, Babylonians, and Persians and all of the people of those earlier times were really speaking of true intelligences.

Authority and Obedience Viewed from the Deeper Teachings

602-1 Sunday 03/07/1976

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseOne need of every individual is to learn to accept authority. The Hierarchy set up a nuclei throughout the earth to carry out its impulses and wishes. Many of the first kings were advanced souls. Rebellious souls who refuse to carry out authority have caused mankind confusion. We must all watch and decide carefully what we will follow. Persons most obedient to authority will be entrusted to wield authority in future lives. Reference to testings given to Pythagoras' students on accepting authority. Reference to Christ's impulse into the world to love one another. Mature spiritual servers respect authority.

The Hierarchy of Perfected Souls and The Master Mary

613-1 Sunday 08/15/1976

In 1950 there was such an outflow of instruction and benediction from the Masters, the veils were very thin for about 10 years. Speaks of Life of Jesus. Mary in Palestine was 4th degree initiate, well-prepared; temple training. Parents were associated with Essenes. Describes family of Jesus. Good relationship with Joseph, both initiates. Of Joseph's 3 sons, 1 daughter James the Lesser was Flower's favorite. Immaculate Conception and Assumption discussed. Upon Masterhood, Mary chose her mission. Today she is considered to be the feminine exponent of Divinity, along with Kwan Yin, who is a master of the far East.

Masters are a Great Reality

640-2 Sunday 09/11/1977

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseEvery kingdom is endeavoring to be perfected. Only about 240 humans have reached mastership so far. Masters have choice of where and how to serve. Many wish to remain in contemplation, working on the inner planes. Very rare to find true a master on physical plane. The only reason that they would come back to earth would be to be a wayshower and a teacher. Very seldom will a genuine master allow his degree of development to be known, because of one reason: they dislike personal idolatry. Most persons claiming to be masters are not.

Maytime's Inner Mysteries

657-2 Sunday 05/07/1978

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseIt means so much to those who are so much greater than men for human beings to look up and into the world of God. There they stand bringing to us a new love of the outdoors. A love of everything which refines us, ennobles us, and brings us into deeper appreciation of beauty, whether it is in a song, or a symphony, or a poem, whether it is a painting we see or the real natural mural of the out-of-doors. If we allow our hearts to express this season more than our minds we, through feeling, will intuitionally tune into the great, great Hierarchy of Divine Servers which is about us at this time.

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseGratitude expressed at Thanksgiving. Shares the story of Pilgrims and how Thanksgiving came to be a national holiday. It takes several days to develop a grateful attitude to properly celebrate Thanksgiving. We should keep a journal of items we are thankful for. We should be continuously thankful, not just for our material blessings, but for our spiritual teachings, and for the blessings of the Christ. To be truly grateful, we must see the good in testings. Includes the legend of three horsemen who were directed to gather pebbles which were turned into jewels. Hierarchy listen to our prayers of gratitude.

The Qualifications of an Initiate

754-1 Sunday 02/07/1982

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower describes her illumination experience at the Giving Tree. Initiation is never conferred from without. It must be an inner experience of your own. Stages of unfoldment include prelude, the event itself (major or minor initiation), and postlude. Once you become enlightened, you belong to the hierarchy, you don't belong to yourself anymore. At third initiation you see who initiates you, and also know that now you are directly attuned to the Hierarchy of Perfected Souls.

The Hierarchy of Perfected Souls: The Masters

756-2 Sunday 03/14/1982

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseA Master someone who is a genius in intellect, and a redeemer in character. It is a person, man or woman, who has come to complete self-control of the lower bodies. There is no area in which they haven't command. Gone from them is all the testers of our humanity. They haven't any of the conceit qualities or temptation or selfishness in them. They are completely free of these qualities. There are about 300 Masters in the Hierarchy. The work that they are responsible for is tremendous, and they are in themselves tremendous. They make us realize that the same responsibility lies within us, to achieve what they have in Christ's name.

The Reality of Masters

782-1 Sunday 03/13/1983

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseMasters are far older than we are, in soul growth. They started their evolutionary journey before we did, and therefore they have achieved mastership. They are very close to humanity, their attention is never withdrawn from our planet. They tell us to watch the little things, it will be the little things that will trip you and delay your achievement of masterhood. Flower describes Masters, what they do, how they look and act, and their friendships with one another. They have divine creative humility, but are also very self-assured. They appear in age as that they liked best when they went through their incarnations on earth. Followed by questions and answers.
