Applying Universal Consciousness

Sunday, January 6, 1963 (211-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseWe are forever at work on the permanent structure of our own divine unfoldment. Work is involved when we choose to move forward. Higher states of consciousness indwell us inherently. Our whole evolutionary period should move from personal consciousness to universal consciousness. Goodness is primary and superior to truth. Truth is secondary and full of methods and theories, goodness is wisdom attained. Examples of goodness such as the good Samaritan; a Welch minister who saved a lamb; and a Japanese farmer saving a village are given. Universal consciousness changes us in regard to our spiritual will. Will is superior to theories of truth.

The Staff of the Illumined

Sunday, April 21, 1963 (221-2)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhousePerfected souls came with powerful inspiration. Their words have been recorded down to our present day. They have a message for us which shall outlast this planet's lifetime. When we consider what a soul undergoes in the journey of evolution through this human way, we know that the human career begins at the stage of individualization. There is a long vast journey of growth and unfoldment, and then at last the first degree of initiation, or rebirth, is achieved. When this stage comes, man becomes a part of a larger order. He becomes a member of the Great White Brotherhood, and he serves no longer his own unfoldment, but the development of the world. Then there is a later stage, of the fifth initiation, when the human evolution ceases, and the superhuman evolution begins.

Evolution and the Bible

Sunday, November 17, 1963 (236-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower explains the esoteric perspective of human creation in relation to the Bible story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, and the scientific theory of evolution. Flower shares that both science and religion contain truth in their diverse theories on evolution. Science tells us that all life is evolving, that it is unfinished as yet. That is true for the physical side. Religion tells us that man was made in God's image, and that is true, but the two persons are different. Religion speaks of the inner man and science speaks of the outer one. They are not speaking of the same aspect, and if we understand that we can better realize how they can come into agreement at some time in the future.

Eliminating Self-Centeredness

Sunday, February 28, 1965 (273-1)

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower explains the restricting growth self-centeredness causes us in our personal evolution. Anyone who is selfish is a child who has not grown up into spiritual maturity. Flower shares examples of individuals who exemplified love and unselfishness. Love only wants to raise, to lift, and to help, love is kind and just. Love is gratitude in expression. Love is of God, and being of God it will bless the receiver as well as the possessor of this wondrous current. Let us remember all the days of our lives that we are to love, not as our personality self wants to love, not even as our higher self desires to love, but as our Lord loves.
