Every Man Is Responsible for His Standards
009-1 Sunday 08/29/1954
Flower reminds us about the importance of having a spiritual code or keynotes to live by. Every individual is like a sponge absorbing, but we must become ever more selective and assimilate only that which we choose, only that which discrimination tells us will give us healthier mental hygiene. As we practice the Christ's fullest teachings, our own moral code will continue to expand, and we will be a stronger crusader and pioneer and protector of the weak, the fearful, the downtrodden, or the attacked than if we were not living to the highest and fullest that we understood. And what we ask for ourselves we must ask with the same vigor for all.
The Christ Self in Men
013-2 Sunday 12/12/1954
Flower A. Newhouse teaches us the importance of getting to know our God Indwelling so we can touch the kingdom of God the Whole.
Christ's Star-like Spirit
015-1 Sunday 12/19/1954
During Christmas there are openings into the Reality of Christ wherever there is appreciation for goodness. By following His path, remaining open and aligned to that which is above us, we will be raised in consciousness. The triad of Holy God powers that The Christ came to radiate and teach us, will become more active in us and gradually govern us.
The Heart of Christmas
036-1 Sunday 12/25/1955
The more we worship Christ, the more He dominates the center of our consciousness, because we choose to be Christ-led, Christ-centered. The gift we give Him each year is our self; deepened, widened, opened more receptively, made more sympathetic, made more appreciative to His vast and eternal ministry.
Let Us Love All
058-1 Sunday 09/30/1956
Those souls who are surcharged with the spaciousness and the inclusive consciousness of goodwill want to know and to understand and to love all. All of us, as we are traveling on the path to our Lord Christ, must recognize that we must move from the personal to the impersonal and from the impersonal to the universal. And we must move consciously, willingly and eagerly to open up our hearts.
The Gift of Spiritual Love
055-2 Sunday 02/24/1957
Flower describes how persons who live a loveless life may on the surface appear popular or successful but that in time their inner state will manifest in psychosomatic illness, physical illness or in a number of other ways. Â She suggests that before this happens we examine our own heart and that we ask God to show us how we can improve our relationships with others. Â Flower goes on to talk about the various kinds of love, motherly love, sisterly love, brotherly love, friendship, and so on, but it is spiritual love that we need to express. Â The love that Christ taught us. Â Love for all of God's creation on earth. Â She gives several examples of people who have lived spiritual love and how they have inspired, challenged and awakened us.
What We Need to Polish in Greater Exercise of Our Use of Christian Truths
063-1 Sunday 03/17/1957
Flower explores the greater mysteries of Christ's teachings, focusing on the Holy Spirit and our need to call upon this great power to help us overcome ourselves. The Holy Spirit has a distinct function, and we are so much poorer for lack of exercising its qualities. She gives details and examples for each purpose of the Holy Spirit to help us understand each one further. She also expresses the importance of living in the present moment.
Spiritual Discipleship (2 of 9): Lord Christ
090-2 Saturday 06/21/1958
Our Lord Christ is the most influential individual that humanity has ever known or ever will know for all of earth's existence. There are Lords and Logi above Him, but as it concerns humanity, He is the highest that our own humanity has unfolded. He is the first flower, He is the full ripened fruit, and He is indeed the model and archetype of our own spiritual becoming.
As Christ Might Idealize Christmas
102-2 Sunday 12/21/1958
Flower describes the Christmas symbols and their meaning to Christians. She gives her thoughts on what Christ would like for humankind.
His Word was with Power
105-2 Sunday 02/15/1959
Lent is a glorious time of unfolding. Lent requires maturity of the Christian because it symbolizes all that man must undergo to become master of his own being. We should welcome the active side of Lent and the contemplative side, and study the Word during Lent. Jesus was very insistent on the proclaiming of the Word. Therefore we are responsible for proclaiming it. The words of God have flowed forth from the invisible to the visible through the written word and the spoken word, and even more than that, they have incarnated in changed lives.
The Positive Life
106-2 Sunday 03/01/1959
Flower describes the Christ Ideal. She tells us that it is not enough to believe in a Deity, but we must strive to know God. She says that religion should make a difference, so much a difference that Christians should be known as Christians even though their names might not be known. They should express something, be far more tolerant, far more inspired and joyous and interested and outgoing and self-giving than are those who merely assent to God's Presence. Through descriptions and examples she guides us to follow the way of Christian Mysticism and reminds us that everyone who claims to love God has the great challenge to prove it by his or her living.
The Healing of Spirit
107-1 Sunday 03/22/1959
One of the major services of the Lord Christ, his proclamation of going out into all lands and healing the sick and speaking to them the holy word. It is the first injunction which too many of us forget, but each of us need the most in the end of our Christian profession, to become a healer and a priest, and we fail our Lord in His teaching until we accomplish that commissioning. The basis of spiritual healing is suggestion. Pythagoras used arithmetic problems to heal people, and used music, color and poetry for therapy.
Easter's Immortal Influence
108-1 Sunday 03/29/1959
We are faced as Christians with the heritage given us. Our Lord is not one who lives in another dimension in some supernatural state apart from us. Our Lord is a Living Christ, and we should always mention that, that phrase, in that way. He is living. He is serving. He is doing. He enters our realm to work with us and to guide us further in His teachings.
Aligning All of Our Vehicles with Healing Currents
109-2 Sunday 04/26/1959
Speaking of the interconnection between mind, body and emotions and the need for inner wholeness and oneness with the Divine Indwelling, Rev. Newhouse uses the example of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde as a man with a divided nature. She tells of Bishop Stephen Neil of England who helped people suffering from nervous problems to learn to identify the dividedness of their nature and to work to unify it. She presents the work of Psychiatrist Dr. Abraham Lowe who held recovery meetings for mental patients to teach them to recover from their illness by learning to use their muscles to train their brains to resume rightful management of the body. The power, oneness and maturity of the Lord Christ is given as the greatest example of wholeness the world has ever known.
The Feast of the Angels (3 of 3)
115-2 Sunday 08/16/1959
The Angel line is different from the human line. Life Motivation Wave instructs man throughout his evolution. Fallen Angels constitute third line of evolution. Angels surround man from their first experience on earth. Guardians remain with their charges at least to the third degree of initiation and often to Mastery. Next to our Guardians the Angel most watchful of man is the Angel of the Christ Presence. Angel line has three sexes, masculine, feminine and biune. The Angel of the Place serves Questhaven and her opposite, the angel of the Height, is stationed at Inspiration Point. Example of the noblewoman, St. Frances of Rome. Example of Peter in the Bible being freed from prison by a Protector Angel.
Duty's Great Purpose
117-1 Sunday 09/13/1959
Flower Newhouse teaches us the importance of living a purposeful, dedicated Christ-consecrated life. We have a karmic duty to our parents, our children, our sisters and brothers, our husbands or wives, our friends, our spiritual family and a duty to God for the upliftment of mankind. If we fail to give service in these relationships, our penalties are compounded with interest and we will face a lack of caring similar to what we inflict on others. Our tendency is to rejoice in some relationships and evade others, but dharma, the principle of right selection, is the law for the evolving soul. When we grow in spiritual stature and understand duty we can no longer fail.
The Reality of the Christ Hierarchy
121-1 Sunday 12/13/1959
Emmanuel means God with us and it refers to the spiritual title given to this soul who also bore the name of Jesus when he became spiritually of age and took upon Himself the mantle of the Christ. We should call Him by the spiritual title. Our Lord was human, but He more quickly had the power of excellence, that supreme ability to surrender himself, and to give himself to that which is higher than anyone else that has evolved through the earth. There are many perfected souls; that option is open to all, and all are evolving toward it. Before the Lord Emmanuel, the Lord Maitreya was the Christ of our planet. Our Lord is the supreme officiant of humanity. Reading of Flower's favorite excerpts from the Gospel According to Thomas. Past lives of Jesus as Joshua, David, and Ikhnaton. Jesus as Lord and Master.
Christmas in the Heart
122-1 Sunday 12/20/1959
Christmas is an event of spiritual empowerment. It is a bestowal from great cosmic glories. We require planetary and solar nourishment which is poured out at the great spiritual festivals. Explains the symbolism of the Christmas tree, decorations, and gift giving. Let us use whatever will lift our emotions - music, symbolism in decoration, the shared impressions of love for Christmas, all that is food to our emotional body and mentally gives us an impetus toward the development of greater character.
Postscript to Christmas
121-2 Sunday 12/27/1959
Christmas is such a high planetary experience. It is a perpetual baptism of spirit. Christmas can only be celebrated from the soul. We should deeply consider taking a part of our work for the new year, the promise to love spiritually, think spiritually, and will spiritually. Christmas is aligned to these powers and reflections of spirit. We want only that love which is spiritual. Love which is emotional is prideful, exclusive, it is critical, it is selfish. This day is what the Christ spirit needs to have as outposts of its consciousness. If we become instruments of its force, we may be sure that the power will flow through if we have the instrument ready. Gifts should be given all year, not just at Christmas. Describes a trip to Allentown where she met cousins. Describes the use of a strong archtypal word to help us through an ordeal.
Wholeness as an Ideal and Objective
123-1 Sunday 01/31/1960
We are taught by our Lord Christ that we were born or rather we were created before we were born on earth. In this inner creation we were made perfect. We also recognize that in being created Divine, we have nothing to do with our own Divinity, we gave no work to it, no development, we paid no price for it, it was a great gift. We must think not only from the standpoint of one incarnation, we think from the standpoint and vastness of eternity itself. Discussion of regeneration and reincarnation.
Adventures in Christian Mysticism
124-1 Sunday 02/14/1960
Flower describes that it is through intuitional consciousness that we reach heightened states of God Awareness. The intellect must remain passive in order to attain expansive states of consciousness, direct knowing and illumination. Explains that the one thing that has kept Christianity alive since the time of Christ on earth is the creativity and works of the Christian Mystics. Mentions various mystics during history. Talk given in San Diego.
The Way of Holiness
126-1 Sunday 03/06/1960
All of us must find oasis, a holy island, in our calendar and in our ongoing through the years, Lent is one of the finest of them. It is a time when outer distractions are deliberately put aside when the highest in us tells us the trivialities and pretenses and expectations and worldliness and all the things that are a part of the unregenerate life need to be set distinctly apart; way outside the territory of our given attention for we in this new period are wholly concentrating upon the reason for our incarnation That is the meaning behind Lent. One great soul the greatest that this humanity has produced, the Lord Christ, showed us how to live. The more we grow the more we see the greater our Lord is. And we appreciate in this holy island, this time of apartness from outer living, periods for drawing upon His matchless courage, His tremendous life, His great and inexhaustible spirituality.
126-2 Sunday 03/13/1960
Explores the importance of having spiritual purposefulness or aims in our striving to be closer to God. Consider the means we are using to grow into the stature that the Christ has prepared for us. Faith always is powerful and is the one of the qualities to use, but it must be creative, it must be kept fresh and one must be adaptive to find ever new means to use to bring about the goal, the intention of our own inner transformation, and our achieving what the message of Lent tells us we can, the purification, the rising, the going through the way of the cross and coming out on the other side unselfed.
Christian Mysticism (3 of 3): Conclusion
133-2 Sunday 07/17/1960
Flower explains that man can experience reality if he prepares himself in order to do so. The way of mysticism begins in a longing for God to be known directly. When an individual Christian takes up his Lord's challenge personally, he comes to the third phase of Christian mysticism, self-surrender. From self-surrender he moves to a fourth experience, consecration. All that matters is sincerity for the life practice of Christ's holy channelship, is that God is to be all-in-all.
Realizing the Importance of Masters
137-1 Sunday 09/18/1960
There are many levels of intelligence and spiritual unfoldment represented amongst humanity and all its peoples. There have been souls who have risen from the earth's training, who have reached the first flowering, the great budding of wholeness as it pertains to this dimension. They are the perfected sons and daughters of life. We know that Osiris, Ikhnaton, and our Lord Christ, the Buddha, Lao Tzu. Confucius, Pythagoras, Quetzcoatl and many others have achieved a masterhood of intelligence, of character, of spiritual development, of mastery over their physical vehicles. When you see a Holy One, you will never be content until you yourself are complete.
Christ's Contribution to the Preciousness of Life
143-1 Sunday 12/25/1960
When you step into the Christ current, you are made whole. Christmas is an achievement of history for which our Lord is responsible. When we approach it half-heartedly, when we don't give it our total selves, we not only fail him, but we fail all the yearnings of our superphysical and our subliminal nature. The Christ is a living reality and he is very much in action behind the scenes of our living. He is so occupied with his great work of being hierarch of all religions. He has given us a spiritual morality by which we live. He loves us each one so greatly, and His love is universal. It applies to those who are not Christian, just as much as those who are.
Events Cast Their Reflections Before Them
143-2 Sunday 01/01/1961
Christ is the central power that we worship and everything that is dear and holy to us has originated from Him, our best friends, our closest associates, our high ideals, all the books and teachers and the challenges that have meant so much are Christ's gift to us. Therefore, reaffirm your dedication to Christ on this New Year. Discusses Akashic Records and New Year keynotes.
The Bridge of Realization
144-2 Sunday 01/15/1961
Flower talks on the importance of developing and using our spiritual abilities to become more God aware. We must, as we go onward, see that we will be sensitized to Spirit safely only as we live the regenerate life, and only as we become more honest, more devoted, more self-sacrificing, more in love with God, and aware that God is our greatest need. She describes spiritual realization as a bridge. It is a mediator between our incompleteness in the physical and in the superphysical realm between those wondrous faculties we possess which could link us to wholeness and everlastingness, the spirit of beauty, the spirit of goodness, the Spirit of Christ. Ours is the choice.
Drawing Closer to God (3 of 3)
158-1 Sunday 08/27/1961
Flower stresses our golden precepts: first; to realize Divinity or God; second, to realize God's Divine presence within us; third, to live attuned to our Lord's way; and fourth, to fulfill all the Christian rules. Explains need to overcome faintheartedness, halfheartedness, lack of commitment to Christ. We are living less than our Christianity unless we make eternity the background of our Christian worship. Emphasizes striving for continual overcoming. Gives examples of raising children in awareness of great Christian powers. Begins with dedication of carillon bells.
An Interpretation of Health and Disease
163-1 Sunday 10/22/1961
The theme of spiritual healing is very neglected in our Christian faith today. True, there are some teachings of it appearing every now and again in various denominations but as a whole, the teaching has been greatly omitted. And since everything, according to the New Testament, if we really believe it and sense it intuitionally as being true, since everything must have its foundation for us in Christ, then this most noteworthy keynote of His should apply to us and to our humanity in its allness and its hereness and its immediate application right today.
There Must Be Victory over Evil
164-2 Sunday 11/12/1961
Flower talks about the evils of communism, and about challenges to Questhaven from a neighbor and the water district. We know that whenever we confront an individual or group, or in an ideology such as communism, what we must do. Evil cannot stand truth. Truth is its opponent. Truth is forever victorious. Discusses three tests of Christ.
Christ's Life Drama and its Relationship to our Growth
167-1 Sunday 12/17/1961
Flower discusses the life of Jesus, who born on earth in order to lead us into those great archetypal developments for which we have been prepared. Shares insights from Carl Jung with discussion of archetypes. To Carl Jung, God was not knowable. He was experienced as a reality through the intuitional nature. They always changed names of disciples to something finer and better than their personality or historical names. Jesus came a Master, He left a Lord. The last of His Lordship degree was being able to come back after death to prove that there was another side to life.
Christmas in the Year 1961
167-2 Sunday 12/24/1961
Christmas is a high, glorious, mysterious event. We aspire to its innermost meaning. When we are spiritually impoverished, help is given from beyond ourselves, enabling us to be freed from being rooted in ourselves. Through love of him and being sent in him, we can sense the majesty and glory of the movement of power and wonder that is everywhere around us. The splendor of Christmas is revealed to us when we are in a childlike state of purity, that beholds God in his glory and responds in purity and purposefulness.
Experiences on the Human Path
169-1 Sunday 12/31/1961
Our purpose is our need for God Our life work is to know God better and more deeply and consistently every day. Tests recur to see whether we are strong enough to to press on, to have a greater load to carry as our privilege in Christ's great Cause Our speech has to be more differentiated, more full of discernment, more perceptive, more true to spirit. We've got to be true to spiritual reality all the way through. Taking care of people, even difficult ones, is not only an individual gift to them, but it is a giving to the great stream of humanity. God makes us channels of grace for many other individuals, and that the more we can serve as channels of grace, the more blessed we are, in the way God intended us to be.
Christ was as Firm as He was Gentle
176-2 Sunday 03/18/1962
In order to be a Master and more importantly, a Lord, the Lord Christ has to be balanced. He has to have a great even blend of the qualities of compassion, of mercy, and the qualities of great firmness and forcefulness. The Christ was a warrior of the living truth. Includes a review of examples in the four Gospels of instances where Christ was firm, for example, with the Pharisees and money changers in the temple. Division comes when we must take sides. Neutral people are never genuinely neutral. Quietness gives evil the appearance of support. Comments against communism and socialism. Flower discusses the meaning of 'If thy right eye offend thee' and 'casting pearls before swine.'
Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring
182-2 Sunday 04/15/1962
Describes the events of Palm Sunday. Describes the purpose and need for many versions of Christianity, and that these are beneficial. Periodically the disciples reincarnate to rekindle the flames of Christianity. It isn't any book, any theology, any creed–it's the Living Christ, whom we worship. Early Christians knew the truth that men go on and finish their evolution and become perfected. For five minutes every day, we should meditate on what Christ means to us. Four ways the Christ influences the earth: regenerating nature, enlightening men, giving dynamic spiritual principles, and opening the gates to the inner kingdom.
The Christmas Message
209-1 Sunday 12/23/1962
During Holy season, we know that the Lord Christ returns to us again and again. He is not dwelling in any far off place to which we haven't access. He dwells, it is true, on planes higher than we can usually reach. But once a year, he descends and gets to close to this earth that the very atmosphere rings with the music of his qualities. His spirit is tangible among us. We know that the atmosphere is different, not because it is December 24th on our calendar, but because there is an entirely different light in the world living around us. This is the one who came to teach us the way back to God that we must treat consciously. The most dreadful thing in the whole world is for us to be unmoved and insensitive at Christmas time.
Initiation: The Perfecting of Man
226-1 Sunday 06/23/1963
Flower explains the spiritual evolution of man, and how we humans eventually evolve to Lordship through the degrees of initiation. She describes each degree of initiation and gives examples of those who have aspired to each level, beginning with first-degree initiates, such as Walt Whitman, all the way up to sixth-degree initiates, which is the level of our Lord Christ.
Keep This Day Fortified
233-1 Sunday 10/13/1963
Flower A. Newhouse shares ideas from her earlier booklet, The Armor of the Spiritual Life, telling us we are each given the same number of hours in the day to bring forth the best we can. She suggests putting spiritual armor around ourselves in the form of various aspects of prayer, meditation, concentration, contemplation, previsioning the day, light-treatment and triple ring-pass-not of the white light of Christ. She explains that Masterhood begins right where we are, and as we train ourselves we will be flooded by the Light of God-inspired effort and growth.
The Diamond Heart
238-1 Sunday 12/15/1963
This talk given during the advent season focuses on our humanity striving toward having a 'diamond heart,' or someone who has come to crystalline purity and no longer allows the personality to intrude. Flower explains what is required to achieve this with Christ, the greatest diamond heart who ever lived, as our example.
Christ the Great Hierarch
238-2 Sunday 12/22/1963
This talk helps to prepare one inwardly for the holy midnight hour of Christmas, which is essential to achieve a highly spiritual Christmas experience. Flower explains what is happening on the spiritual plane at this time, and what one must do to be receptive to the energy and blessings which are present. She emphasizes one should strive toward realization through attunement rather than anticipation of an inner experience or feeling.
Living above the Visible
255-2 Sunday 07/26/1964
States that our great purpose in this incarnation is to live above the visible plane; to have conscious affiliation with Divine world of spirit from which we came, to which we forever belong. Christ says the Kingdom of Heaven is within us; we are to increase awareness of these inner worlds. Psychology and parapsychology are increasing openness and sensitivity to them. Describes the training undertaken by Sufi mystics, travelers on the great path.
Christmas is an Initiatory Reminder
268-1 Sunday 12/20/1964
Christmas is the spirit of Christ made manifest and visible to man, transforming our outer lives. It is a time to adore the living Christ, the model of our own becoming. Christmas is a reminder of the first degree of initiation. Describes traits of initiates. A reborn soul has, as his or her predominant quality, obedience to superior development and attainment, and to everything that is above one in God. Describes symbolism of Christmas star, manger, Bethlehem, tree, bells, carols.
290-2 Sunday 10/10/1965
Biographical information on various remarkable people. Thomas Paine, a 4th degree initiate, much maligned genius with many talents and interests who greatly helped American revolution. Thomas Jefferson was remarkable, close to mastership, with many varied talents and author of much of the Declaration of Independence. Henry Ford was another transformer, in a practical sense. Gives examples of ordinary people as power transformers. The essence of Christianity itself is to see where we may serve, to see how Christ can use us to lighten the load of someone else.
Meaningful Extracts from Baron von Hugel
293-1 Sunday 12/05/1965
Gives biographical data of, and spiritual insights from Baron Friedrich von Hugel, Evelyn Underhill's spiritual director. Considers him second degree initiate with much of third degree work completed. Describes his fearlessness and states that he was a spiritual giant. It was he who brought Underhill to Christ, she having previously been theocentric. Quotes extensively from von Hugel's letters. Analyzes, interprets, comments on his sayings.
The Meaning and Value of the Sacraments
299-2 Sunday 02/20/1966
There is great esoteric Christian meaning during the symbolical rites of the various sacraments. Christ is the Light of the World symbolized by candles in a church. Incense symbolizes the coming of the Wise Men. Descriptions are given about what takes place superphysically during different ceremonies. The bread and juice used in communion taste different after being blessed. At memorial services the person who passed must be present and receive the thought forms of those who are honoring him. We should bless and dedicate new buildings businesses, memorial trees, and our cars.
Easter's Meaning for Us
303-1 Sunday 04/10/1966
The story of our Lord Christ is a continuing unfoldment. It is always glorious and beautiful to recognize at Easter and at Christmas how very much He has grown, and how much wider are the hosts that are about Him, and how many more persons He has claimed. The cross was not the ending for Him. It was only the beginning, and our Lord Christ is very much alive, so that we always include in addressing Him the term, Thou who art the Living Christ, because we consider that very important in rightly addressing this very great soul.
The Masters of Wisdom and Their Work
316-1 Sunday 10/23/1966
This talk by Flower A. Newhouse offers descriptions, functions and responsibilities of Masters and Lords. She even touches on our future evolution toward Logoshood. This is an intimate talk where Flower shares personally how she receives guidance from the Great Ones as well as the Lord Christ's appearance to her in the mountains.
How to Inwardly Celebrate Christmas
319-1 Sunday 12/11/1966
Now the spiritual person who loves and honors Christ greatly, knows that he will not be particularly lifted and benefitted permanently through the outer festivities, the family reunions, glorious and happy though they are. He knows that unless something happens to him, unless he knows a birth within himself of a higher state of consciousness, the meaning of this particular Christmas will be lost to him. And so the more devoted and consecrated the individual, the better will he endeavor before Christmas comes to realize its worth and to prepare for it.
The Light That Fills the Hearts of Men
320-1 Sunday 12/25/1966
Through Christ we receive the impulse of the Christing of our own nature. When the Lord Jesus became the Lord Emmanuel at His ascension, He became the director of the Christ Spirit and charged it with his own Beinghood. We have a twofold responsibility: firstly, to remember our Lord Christ and what he represents; secondly, we owe our Lord the increase of the Christ spirit, day by day, by making the commonplace uncommon. The meaning of Christmas is so deep because it unites the physical and eternal world, and it relates us to that part of us which has always belonged to God and will forever. When the Christ looks at you, he makes you feel as though he sees the God indwelling that you are becoming. He makes you know that he sees what you can be.
The Perennial Transformation
320-2 Sunday 01/01/1967
In this New Year's Day talk, Flower begins by giving an esoterical translation of one of Thomas Merton's books that relates to the holy cycle of the year. She talks about the importance of living our lives attuned to these cycles and shares the impact individuals have when living their lives in this way. She gives specific suggestions in how to live our lives in this way, and says we should strive to keep living Christmas daily. We must never leave the threshold of our consecration, our dedication, our gift to the Christ, our worship of the Divine Resources.
To Be a Good Disciple
321-2 Sunday 01/15/1967
Flower explains why each individual should be striving for self-mastery by becoming a good disciple of the Lord Christ. She outlines the qualifications needed to achieve this and follows up with several individual examples of those who are true disciples and overcame their personality selves. Strive to become disciples. You will find the real disciples, always the hard-working ones in any work or cause. Strive yourselves to be that kind of disciple, and when you are all the truths that you need to know will come to you easily and with greater inspiration and from higher resources than ever in your wildest hopes you thought might happen to you.
Unveiling the Mysteries of the Holy Spirit
324-2 Sunday 03/05/1967
Flower explains the aspect of God in and throughout the Holy Comforter. We need to understand more about the Holy Spirit if we are to develop the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and are to be guided, blessed, and helped by it. This third aspect of God, functions throughout our planet, just as the Christ Spirit, and God the Mother, Father Spirit, do. Flower shares the symbols (white dove, rush of wind, seal of the Holy spirit) of Holy Spirit and cites relevant Bible verses. Describes manifestations and functions of this aspect, as enlightener, stimulator, awakener. Gives examples of outposts of Holy Spirit. There will be an increased emphasis on Holy spirit with coming of Aquarian Age. Ends with brief, but fascinating Question and Answer session.
The Chakras that are Present in Us
325-1 Sunday 03/19/1967
Flower describes the chakras, their appearance, colors and location in each of the higher bodies. Explains their differing functions in each of our inner bodies. Describes three energies coursing through thespinal cord–the life force from God the Whole courses down; Vitality energy spirals up from right side of spine; Kundalina fire begins on left side of spine implanting its energies at the seven sacred centers. States that God in us, our Divine spirit, has its outflow through the heart chakra. Notes that on Palm Sunday our Lord Christ was aware of the tremendous background that He had behind Him. In that preparation he knew how to work on his inner bodies so that the tumultuous acclaim of the excited, fickle, changeable crowd did not excite him.
Living with the Realization of the Angels
339-1 Sunday 10/01/1967
Flower shares that mention of the Angels was eliminated in 4th Nicene Council because of fear of rivaling the Christ. Books of Apocrypha mention Angels and Archangels. There are Angels for each of the Seven Rays. There are feminine and masculine Angels. There are many orders of Angels always near and they can do things for us that others can't do. Descriptions given of Angels and their activities. Description of hearing Angels of Song at Mt. Rainier. Description given for Angels and devas in Nature Line. Description of power center at Lake Patzcuaro, the wheel beings and colors present.
The Tremendous Creative Influence of Thought
355-2 Sunday 03/17/1968
Flower Newhouse describes in detail the power of thought. Through several examples, she shares the superphysical aspect of thought, its color, form, and effect. She says, 'We learn through extrasensory perception, through extended vision, that thoughts have activity, they have motion. Thoughts have color and thoughts have form... realizing then, that thought is not only creative and has influence, but thought is something, it does something, it moves somewhere, you want to see that it's going the right direction, and it's going into the field where, that is the reservoir of the Christ Spirit, where it can be acted upon and brought to you when you are ready for the right answer.'
Eternal Resources of Spirit
359-1 Sunday 04/07/1968
Jesus went through the ordeal on the cross, not as a ritual, but in full consciousness. In becoming a Lord with the full investments of Christhood, He could become the Christ Regent. We too are on the way to our own Christship. We will never be Christ as our Lord is Christ Hierarch, but we must be vested with the Christ within us. Our work is to face our own initiations. We have three things to do in f acing initiations. We must know ourselves spiritually, know ourselves in the world, and know the world in ourselves. The first degree of initiation is the one of rebirth. The second degree of initiation is baptism with power. The third degree of initiation requires of us spiritual maturity. The fourth degree of initiation requires that we conquer for good ego and self love. The fifth degree of initiation takes one into mastership.
Understanding the Value of the Sacraments
373-2 Sunday 10/27/1968
A church is a holy place where one encounters God. Holy Ones enter from the altar which represents the peak in man; the nave represents the filling of power; candles represent the presence of the Living Christ; Bible represents the Word of God; christening service gives permanent thought form by representative of the Christ and creates a link between inner and outer. Inner values of communion service, baptism, marriage, memorial, home blessing and dedication services described. Memorial service is most transcendent of all.
The Art of Cultivating and Controlling Thought Power
382-2 Sunday 02/16/1969
Let this vine be in you, which was, and is, in Christ Jesus. This is the goal of evolution. This is our innermost aim to come to that state of consciousness wherein the highest in us thinks through us and uses us as its channels. Flower describes how meditation can help us refine our mental body, and emphasizes the importance of choosing our thoughts, words, activities, and relationships from a higher level. If we do this, you can be that one in your field of service that lifts the whole atmosphere into a more wholesome place in which to function, wherein greater brotherhood or sisterhood is realized, where thoughts of a constructive order are given precedence over discord.
The Years of Jesus Until Thirty
384-2 Sunday 03/02/1969
Describes Christ's early life in Nazareth, including vibrant details of His family and the countryside. These recollections come from Flower's own memories of that life. Flower states when He was here as the historical Jesus, He did not need to be taught, by any person, any philosophy, any book, that which He came to say. Jesus traveled widely in Palestine, but did not study in India or other countries. Describes His temptations and triumphant victory over evil.
Christ's Great Teachings
386-2 Sunday 03/16/1969
Discusses the meaning of the Beatitudes. Speaks of Christ's desire to simplify Jewish religious rites. Christianity rises out of the teachings of the Old Testament and the very quintessence of what is good in the Old Testament is found in the Beatitudes. The Beatitudes themselves are not new teachings, they were teachings that the multitudes could appreciate and find familiar.
Emmanuel: God With Us
389-1 Sunday 04/06/1969
Easter celebrates our Lord's victory over death and evil. He is now a transformer that touches spiritual essence throughout all regions. He is the example of what it means to think and feel and live and aspire from the soul plane. Christ's mission is to release the Divine into our conscious knowing. Beings higher than ourselves in intelligence and unfoldment carry out the purposes of our Lord, which emphasise the four cornerstones of Christianity–love, faith, kindness and integrity. As you serve the Christ, the adventure you will know of becoming more universal and more cosmic in your appreciation will be the most wondrous spiritual adventure you have ever enjoyed. Christ will not finish His work until the whole planet and all of humanity of every century is brought to its highest degree of development.
The Incarnating Soul
392-2 Sunday 06/01/1969
Flower poses questions asked by parents of a new baby, 'Where do you come from? Why are you here? Why have you come to me? How may I best help you?' and then uses the teachings of the Christ to answer those questions about all incarnating souls. Describes evolution of humankind, varying according to primary ray, from earliest lives in Mongolia up to the present. Lists fourth wave lifetimes (composite nations, blending). Mentions cosmic evolution within Solar system. Explains how parents can help their child's soul grow and evolve.
Manhood and Fatherhood
394-1 Sunday 06/15/1969
Man reflects the fatherhood of God and on earth man is dominant. Spiritually the woman is more dominant and active on the inner planes. Questions and answers concerning the Seven Rays, how they were created and sent into manifestation. Psychopaths are soulless and ultimately are returned to primal essence. How a Guardian Angel chooses her charge. Christ was not an Archangel. Prayer thought forms and how they work. St. Germaine is now Master Ragoczy.
What Religion Is Attempting to Achieve
402-1 Sunday 10/12/1969
Flower describes some troublesome trends in our country and how we need to take a stand for Truth. The emphasis is put on how we need to constantly be striving for growth toward God. She says, With spiritual illumination comes the realization that God is endeavoring to perfect His creation. For each phase of His creation, He has a purpose. He achieves the perfecting of creation through various means; one of them is through His love and caring for creation.
Lord Christ to Thee Our Hearts Are Open
406-1 Sunday 12/21/1969
The Rev. Flower A. Newhouse explains how the Christ is the greatest influence in our lives, and that we can begin to pay the tremendous debt we all owe to Him by the Christing of our thoughts, the Christing of our emotions, of our living, and of our entire nature. Christmas is the initiatory transforming event to give a part of ourselves to the living Christ - to love more lovingly, to serve more selflessly, to honor Him in every moment of our lives.
416-2 Sunday 03/29/1970
Reverend Newhouse explains the purpose of Christ's life and the triumph of his achievements. We should not call Him Jesus because that is His historical name. Isaiah told us that it would be the Lord Emmanuel as Christ who would help us and inspire us. And if we do our Lord honor it is through His new name, the name of His spiritual service and destiny by which we intone Him. Examples are given of ways to further the Christ Cause and ways to increase your reverence for Lord Emmanuel.
The Value of Knowing There Are Angels
435-1 Sunday 09/27/1970
In this informative talk on the Angels, we discover the multitudes that there are, from Angels of Birth and Angels of Death, to Angels of Nature and Angels of the Christ's Presence. We could never exhaust the types of Angels that there are and with every new season that comes, we realize more deeply and more joyously how wonderful it is to be granted one more insight into an activity of an Angelic Presence we had never even surmised existed before. We learn the importance of honoring the Angels and that their capacity to love is far greater than anything we humans can comprehend, especially that of our Guardian Angels. Angels are infinitely wise, and they have a love for creation that is almost incomprehensible to us. For that reason they can serve so nobly, so daringly, and so purely.
Christmas: The Festival of Spiritual Joy
444-2 Sunday 12/20/1970
Come let us receive Him and let this Christmas record in us His own great influence. The Lord Christ has made a greater impact on earth and humanity than any of us have realized or been grateful for to this very day. The word Christ in every language is the greatest word that exists. We cannot properly attune ourselves to this transcendent person unless we understand much about His office, His background, and what He is now. In this talk, Flower describes Christ's mission and who He really is. She tells the Christ's story as one having authority and integrity.
The Hierarchy of Great Souls Made Perfect in God: The Masters
469-1 Sunday 08/15/1971
Describes perfected beings that still have any connection with humanity; their functions and locations in inner worlds. Inner hierarchy has its seat in Shamballa; led by the Christ; different masters serve in different areas such as government, education, healing, arts, science and religion. Angel Hierarchy also exists, led by the Angel King, works with weather, elements, rising of continents, life on earth through nature. These two hierarchies meet and mingle, that is, their leaders may confer in council. Each, knowing the intentions of the other, can do much better in his own sphere of service.
Love is Christ's Pathway
514-1 Sunday 09/17/1972
Love that will sustain and see us through every testing is spiritual love. Example of couple with marital problems; advised that they once had love; now they could come to love again. Several years later, they had achieved spiritual love. Need to realize that in marriage is our opportunity, beginning with the governing of our relationships nearest at hand, and blessing them with the might of spiritual love. There is where we find our own transformations. Love for children and animals as well. Gives examples of her children, raccoons in mountains, and family dogs. Love, true love, never faileth. It does not fail one's marriage partner, one's child, one's friend, or anyone.
The Holiness of Christmas
520-2 Sunday 12/24/1972
This talk was given on Christmas Eve Sunday at the close of a Christmas Retreat. Flower begins by describing the Christ's purpose for our humanity, then leads into a description of what takes place on the inner on Christmas Eve with the approach of the Hierarchy in celebration of Christ's birth, referred to as the Nativity on higher planes. She ends the talk by sharing with us what we can gain if we celebrate Christmas rightly. There is no one in the world that is more interested in you and your future than this One who is carrying out God's will directly of spiritualizing the entire planet. Help Him to do that.
Just How Much Do You Want to Change This Lifetime?
525-1 Sunday 02/25/1973
Flower discusses choosing goals for life with a spiritual purpose. All failure is spiritual failure. Describes short-range goals and long-range goals, gifts to Christ at Christmas and goals for the New Year and Lent. Gifts to Christ must come from our Souls or they won't be successful. The Divine Indweller will help us keep our word. Discussion of the need to use our minds wisely and to allow the Soul to direct them. The Soul wants to bring forth the beauty of holiness in all that we do. Example of a teacher in Moorpark who inspired students to plant flowers and it inspired the whole town to beautify its grounds.
Christ's Past Present and Future Influence upon Us
528-2 Sunday 04/22/1973
What a day Easter signifies. Only our intuition can tell us of some of its meanings. Most of them go way beyond our comprehension. They are known to those of high development, a development beginning with Mastership. We realize that something mighty took place which Easter commemorates which will cause us to be indebted to that one who made it possible for all of our evolution. Flower shares from her personal memories of Christ and the Disciples.
Angels in the Life of Man
540-1 Sunday 09/30/1973
Flower describes ranks, orders and beings from the Angelic Kingdom, who all give allegiance to Christ. Closest to us is our Guardian Angel, who helps us grow and confers minor initiations. Gives many examples of different types of Angels, such as Angels of Truth, Angels of Weather, Angels of Wisdom, Healing Angels (Healing Angels present at shrines also, such as Guadalupe and Fatima), Warrior Angels, Angels of the Seasons, Color Angels, Music Angels. When happy, Angels smile and release a burst of color.
The Coming of Christ into our Hearts and Lives
545-2 Sunday 12/23/1973
There is no more Divine event that has ever happened on earth than Nativity, the coming of the Christ. We look at Easter upwards and we know that there is a mighty event being celebrated of a tremendous attainment at that time, but it is so far ahead of us in our own unfoldment because of what it signifies; Easter does the completed degree of Lordship which our Lord had achieved. But Christmas celebrates His coming.
The Risen Christ: The Governing Lord Emmanuel
553-2 Sunday 04/14/1974
As Reverend Newhouse does so eloquently, she describes how Christ is the only one in all our humanity that achieved Christhood. She explains the strength, dedication, and love it took for Him to achieve such a tremendous feat. Also how the resurrection transformed the disciples.
Sacred Mysteries and Their Schools
575-2 Sunday 02/23/1975
Mystery schools existed in Chaldea, India, China, Egypt and Persia where deeper teachings were given and quality of persons was emphasized rather than quantity. Great White Brotherhood is active on the inner and helps to guide persons on earth. Pythagoras' School was the best thing that happened to Greece. He taught the movement of earth as we know it and also that the universe is spherical. Quakers were formerly Essenes. Christ's message was completely matchless and will never be excelled. Only 1/6th of human souls are allowed on earth at any one time.
The Great Reality of Angels
590-2 Sunday 09/28/1975
When persons find that Angels are realities, they usually come with such surprise to the finding! Early Christian fathers tell about visitation of the Angels in times of prayer and again at junctures of crisis. These Great Ones are still, as they have been all through the centuries, with us. They are Intelligences of an older order of life, much older than human beings. Because of that They are wiser and stronger, and for that reason They are entrusted with duties to help the Christ Cause. There is no selfishness in Angels, there is no ego. There is only obedience and immediate changing of Themselves when necessary for a larger good to come through. They are patient and devoted; their spirituality is pure. Their creativity is tremendous, and always inspiring. One keynote above every other virtue is great joyousness.
Authority and Obedience Viewed from the Deeper Teachings
602-1 Sunday 03/07/1976
One need of every individual is to learn to accept authority. The Hierarchy set up a nuclei throughout the earth to carry out its impulses and wishes. Many of the first kings were advanced souls. Rebellious souls who refuse to carry out authority have caused mankind confusion. We must all watch and decide carefully what we will follow. Persons most obedient to authority will be entrusted to wield authority in future lives. Reference to testings given to Pythagoras' students on accepting authority. Reference to Christ's impulse into the world to love one another. Mature spiritual servers respect authority.
The Message the Glory of Easter Teaches Us
604-2 Sunday 04/18/1976
Rev. Flower A. Newhouse discusses who Christ is, His mission, and His conquest. The Resurrection applies to us too. We have our own Easter to receive again and again and to experience. There are always trials and testings and it is expected that following the lead of the Christ, we know the way, we too can break through our own barriers that keep us from our fullest expression. Christ is the divine Pattern of our becoming and is the most advanced of our humanity. She states that we are also to achieve wholeness and completeness and the conquest of limitations. We can achieve them best by remembering that our indebtedness to the great exemplar, Christ, can best be paid through our own willing resurrections by the Christing of our entire beings.
The Motivation of Goodness
610-2 Sunday 07/11/1976
Rev. Flower A. Newhouse explains the essential need for us to be motivated toward goodness - to live attuned and at one with the Christ impulse and purposes - to make ourselves more pure, more loving, and ever stronger in living steadfastly in the light, so as not to disappoint the Masters who may be watching us and waiting for us to become dependable and useable for them and the Cause of Light.
The Holy Spirit as Distinct from the Christ Spirit
612-2 Sunday 08/08/1976
The average Christian knows little about the Holy Spirit, although new Testament says much about it. Christ gave what was His note to sound, but the Paraclete, the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, the Holy Ghost will bring forth truth that we need at any time, and truth for all the ages. Within Him is totality of knowledge, of wisdom, of prophecy, of revelation and of illumination. This is a glorious raying out of Deity. Since the Christ sponsored it, we should be open to the Comforter and to all that He can give us. The Paraclete is of the masculine form in His present stage of Lordhood. He dispenses Truth everywhere; sees that wherever there is need, it comes. He prepares truths for ages to come, and in advance of their ripening on earth, but He does not reveal Himself.
Our Lives Lack Purpose until They Are Committed
620-1 Sunday 11/14/1976
The most important single spiritual event that can take place in the life of anyone is the coming to dedication. Most of those who believe in God and our Lord Christ call themselves Christians, but are not truly Christians. They are only Christians outwardly. They have to be anointed with the fires of their own spirit that gives itself to God to be really Christian. A Christian is one who is dedicated, and that is the only type of Christian that counts.
What All Men May Receive from Christmas
622-2 Sunday 12/19/1976
Every year you should have grown in the deepening of your recognition of Who the Christ is. And as you begin to know Him, you will realize that He is someone who lives from the innermost and radiates light forward to the outermost in touching us, but He is of earth. Revering and loving Christ and recognizing that Christmas blesses us with many benefits and we have intuitionally to tune in to more and more of the opening of the lens of our inner reception.
Love That Is Ennobling
626-2 Sunday 02/13/1977
In order for Valentine's Day to have any meaning it should be practiced every day. And in order for it to be that, then we must follow the eleventh commandment of the Christ which was added in principle to the ten commandments from the Old Testament. Jesus said: 'a new commandment I give unto you that you love one another as I have loved you.' This breathes of a different kind of love than most people express toward each other. And this great eleventh commandment is one we should reflect upon daily for when we do that it saves us in so many ways and it enables us to lift up our consciousness and to give love in such a way that it is help and a lifting influence to others. Even in practical ways spiritual love is seen to excel.
Inspirations Found through Consciousness Raising
629-1 Sunday 03/20/1977
Flower shares with us the importance of immensity consciousness, lifting one's consciousness Godward, even in the mundane every day tasks of life. She gives specific exercises one can do to practice this upliftment as well as examples of how she uses various techniques herself. She recommends authors to read, music to listen to, and places to visit that all aid in this endeavor. She concludes this talk by reminding us that the Divine God Presence and the Divine Lord Christ are the greatest things we could ever think upon, and that thinking of them frequently during the day makes life itself smoother, more beautiful, more rhythmic, more harmonious and more noble.
Easter's Application to Humanity
630-2 Sunday 04/10/1977
Flower discusses the meaning of Easter and Lent. She suggested reading Malcolm Muggeridge's book 'Jesus.' He stated that Jesus' birth was the most stupendous event of history and that Christ had a greater influence on people than any other great teacher. Flower stated that the Lord Emmanuel is the only one from our humanity qualified to be the Christ for all life forms on our planet, and how Christ and God are one. She shared the insights of a young man in the congregation concerning Christ and how we can unite our consciousness with His Spirit.
The Inner Aspects of Thanksgiving
645-2 Sunday 11/20/1977
Thanksgiving prepares us for the great feast of the birth of Christ in our own being. Humility, which always must be present, is present in the master, is present in the Lord, should be present in those who have not achieved the great degrees of development as yet. If we express humility, we will not even know we shine, because we are outgoing, outgiving, always outward looking away from ourselves to the wholeness that ever surrounds us of divinity. Includes stories of gratitude and the benefits of keeping a gratitude journal.
The Birth of Christ Within
648-1 Sunday 12/25/1977
Reverend Flower A. Newhouse reaffirms the greatness, the divinity of the Christ. She differentiates between 'Christ in you' and the Lord Christ Himself, and His office of Christhood. Flower gives uplifting examples of people growing closer to Christ, especially around the time of Christmas, and the transformations that follow. She concludes that the greatest adventure of your entire incarnation will take place when at last you know that His spirit is, at long last, born in you.
Idealize-Then Measure Up
652-2 Sunday 02/26/1978
We all need to realize in Lent that we have these sandbags to loosen, and the more we do that, the more free we are. And there is nothing in the whole world to compare to the freedom of someone who doesn't just believe in Christ, but who knows Him, who senses Him and God behind all outer living. That person knows a responsibility for his belief in Divinity and in the Christ. His responsibility is to remake himself as best he can. It's an endless job. It's a wonderful work. And it is our lifetime's labor.
From Christ's Victory to Yours
654-2 Sunday 03/26/1978
Easter celebrates the living presence of the Lord Christ. He is not a principle to us. He is not a figure that lived in the history of the past and then alone helped man. He is an Eternal person with whom we are to reckon. With every Easter that comes we should be that much closer to an appreciation of what it means to know the Christ. There is no other name throughout humanity that has the power of the name and the spirit and the person of the Christ.
A Look at Illumination and Initiation
660-1 Sunday 06/18/1978
How much do you want to be close to God? How much do you want to know Christ? It takes many lifetimes to prepare for the explosion of consciousness ushering one into a new dimension of awareness. Required qualities for illumination are described, as well as those which are detrimental to achieving initiation. Illumination brings at-one-ment with the Divine. Dreams can reveal preparation for this high experience. Each degree of initiation and its requirements are described and examples given of individuals who have achieved different initiatory levels.
The Decisive Moment
666-2 Sunday 09/17/1978
Crises are tremendous opportunities, provided we face reality, meet the truth and respond effectively. A crisis precipitates a decision for us. At critical moments, when we apply Christ's teachings, rather than react unconsciously, and we respect everyone who believes in God, regardless of his path, then indeed do we receive many intimations of divine presence, mantlings, benedictions, sometimes healing. Cites many examples of people who overcame tragedy and enduring sorrow, by putting attention on others and generating good into the lives of others.
Seven Bodies (1 of 5): Higher Faculties and Powers
668-1 Sunday 10/08/1978
Discusses man's inner powers from primitive man to modern times and institutions where these faculties are being studied. Flower relates examples of several of these powers, such as bilocation and precognition, giving detailed examples of the powers of Lord Christ, Nostradamus, Padre Pio and Pythagoras. Also related are examples of psychosomatic illnesses and their causes. She concludes the talk with the hope that there are men and women who continue to grow, keeping their minds open to God so that someday something very remarkable will come to them.
Let Us Cultivate Spiritual Love
676-2 Sunday 02/11/1979
Valentine's Day reminds us of love. There are so many kinds of love. There is carnal love, personal love, there is spiritual love, too. And of these three types only spiritual love will help others and ourselves, and spiritual love is what the Lord Christ taught. You know, He expressed the eleventh commandment when He said, 'A new commandment give I unto thee, that ye might love one another as I have loved you.' That is different than the love that a husband would give his wife or a mother her child. Spiritual love goes beyond personal love. Personal love can be beautiful, but it, too, is limited.
Christ Our Lord and Redeemer
681-1 Sunday 04/15/1979
Discusses evolution, preparation for life on earth, and review of one's life with Kindel Archangel upon return to inner worlds. Flower shares her personal memories of Christ.
Consciousness Is Our Best Tool
690-2 Sunday 09/02/1979
It is very necessary that in elementary ways we begin to apply the deepest type of Christian consciousness, Christ consciousness, that we know because you are tested in the little things. And the Great Ones watch you as to how you react in the so-called unimportant situations more than they watch you when you are being severely tried. Then you know that you are lost unless you surrender to the larger consciousness and the greater power which is also within you and around you. It's a great adventure. Put consciousness to work and allow it to transform you and your reactions to life as fully as it is capable of doing.
The Wisdom Religion: The Deep and Inclusive Aspect of Christ's Religion
713-2 Sunday 07/20/1980
Wisdom religion exists and functions on soul level and contains all spiritual truth. Both exoteric and esoteric religions exist on earth. Christ taught inner teachings to the band of 70. The message of Christian orthodox churches pertains to our moral life. Exoteric religion began in Egypt in 3000 B.C. Apollo was god of shepherds. Athena was goddess of the home in Greece and Vesta in Rome. Polynesians and American Indians considered mountains as holy places. Scientology is a dangerous teaching.
The Message of the Unicorn
720-2 Sunday 10/26/1980
Flower describes the unicorn from an historical point of view, and then from a spiritual perspective. She states that Lord Christ chose the unicorn to be the animal to represent Him to all creatures, to all wild and domesticated animal life on Earth. She tells the message the unicorn represents to humans and to animals. She says that Christmas Eve is a very special time that the unicorn comes to bless the Earth. This is the creature who is highly endowed with Christ Spirit, Christ Love, Christ instructions.
Gratitude: the Mark of an Old Soul
722-2 Sunday 11/23/1980
Gratitude expressed at Thanksgiving. Shares the story of Pilgrims and how Thanksgiving came to be a national holiday. It takes several days to develop a grateful attitude to properly celebrate Thanksgiving. We should keep a journal of items we are thankful for. We should be continuously thankful, not just for our material blessings, but for our spiritual teachings, and for the blessings of the Christ. To be truly grateful, we must see the good in testings. Includes the legend of three horsemen who were directed to gather pebbles which were turned into jewels. Hierarchy listen to our prayers of gratitude.
Love Is Your Best Gift
728-2 Sunday 02/15/1981
Reverend Newhouse gives examples of how love can transform lives. She explains how giving love is the highest gift one can give to another as our Lord Christ showed us. Of all things a dedicated Christian is one who loves. To the great Masters of mankind, three qualities are requisite in their pupils and disciples. These qualities are first reverence, then comes love, and thirdly the Masters and Lords require that their pupils and disciples have integrity, active integrity at all times.
Christ and the Knights of the Round Table
733-1 Sunday 04/19/1981
Every power of good and every prayer and meditation take us into Christ's presence. John Muir came to Christ during his visit to Rome and after that he lived for Christ. Malcolm Muggeridge came to Christ by observing Mother Teresa's selfless work. Quotes given from Manly Hall's book The Mystical Christ. Quotes given from Roy Trevivian's TV interview of Malcolm Muggeridge. Flower described music in Wagner's Parsifal. Christ dwells in a state of super-consciousness and when He wishes is conscious of everything going on in the world.
Holy Expectancy: Living the Life
752a1 Wednesday 01/13/1982
Flower discusses importance of living the life. The three aspects of Christ's teachings to practice are gathering of spiritual knowledge, improvement of our devotions, and living the life. Flower explains how knowledge becomes wisdom; her use of a journal and scrapbook. Discusses ways to improve our devotion; importance of balancing both hemispheres of the brain. This Wednesday night talk is followed by questions and answers. Flower describes the difference between psychology, metaphysics, esoteric and mystical Christianity.
The Hierarchy of Perfected Souls: The Masters
756-2 Sunday 03/14/1982
A Master someone who is a genius in intellect, and a redeemer in character. It is a person, man or woman, who has come to complete self-control of the lower bodies. There is no area in which they haven't command. Gone from them is all the testers of our humanity. They haven't any of the conceit qualities or temptation or selfishness in them. They are completely free of these qualities. There are about 300 Masters in the Hierarchy. The work that they are responsible for is tremendous, and they are in themselves tremendous. They make us realize that the same responsibility lies within us, to achieve what they have in Christ's name.
More about the Angels
770-1 Sunday 09/26/1982
Angels are everywhere and more numerous than the human kingdom. The Bible has 295 references to Angels. The Council of Nicea in the 4th century struck out far more material from the Bible than is now available. At that time they felt that subject of Angels was so glorious and great that if it was too emphasized in Christianity, that people would not honor the Christ as much as they do. The churches leave out an emphasis of the Angel kingdom. This leaves a great gap between God and Christ, and all of the Aspects of Divinity. There must be something in between! Angels are messengers from God. Flower describes the appearance of Angels at Michaelmas and mentions St. Patrick, Mortimer Adler, Dionysius, and Thomas Aquinas on the Angels.
Our Festival of Thanksgiving
774-1 Sunday 11/21/1982
Flower tells us that our auras have a light orchid color when we pray with gratitude. It is that colorful essence that will emanate that gives to the Christ Spirit its color and beauty. Thanksgiving should bring to the foreground of our attention the reasons we have for being grateful. Flower says she doesn't know of any condition that puts a person in the state of consciousness, ready for illumination, as much as gratitude. Gratitude is the final quality the Great Ones who work with humanity look for.
The Mystical Side of Christianity
776-1 Sunday 12/19/1982
Presented the Sunday before Christmas, this talk focuses on the history of the celebration of Christmas in the United States, preparations for Christmas, gifts to the Christ, expansion of Christ consciousness, Christ's message and the Christ temperament and character.
Christ Our Lord Most Holy
783-2 Sunday 04/03/1983
Reverend Newhouse asks us some questions about our purpose in being a Christian and in what ways we show that to others. She explains how great the Lord is to this planet and that we should think and pray to Him every day. She emphasizes the Holiness of Christ.
Gratitude Is the Measure of Our Development
800-1 Sunday 11/20/1983
The Christ and the Masters are always on the watch for persons who possess certain qualities, including gratitude. The Higher Ones say that next to the lack of reverence, there is a lack of appreciation in men. The more grateful you are for the good you have and have experienced, the happier your are and the more prosperous. We should be grateful for the good that comes from testing and for large and small blessings. The Higher Ones evaluate us according to our openness, according to the sincerity with which we give, and according to the fact that we let go and give.
Our Gift to Christ
802-1 Sunday 12/18/1983
Giving Christ a gift at Christmas is one of the most important things we can do every single Christmas eve. It should be a specific gift, not a general gift. There are direct and indirect gifts. We should renew the pledge daily, and as we do so, the thought form of the gift grows. The Christ gives to us all year long. A discussion of the appearance of prayer forms. You want to be in a special place when you give your gift. Story of a young boy who gives a blind woman a Christmas tree. Describes being in the mountains with Lawrence on Christmas Eve.
God's Spirit Indwells Us: How Do We Perceive This?
804-1 Sunday 01/15/1984
Flower describes ways to draw closer to God the Whole and God Indwelling, how to 'live the life'. There isn't anything more important than learning more about God. This is the message given by our Lord Christ. He knew God, He worshiped God, and because He did, He gave us the incentive to seek God, to know what He is like, and to be worthy of such communication.
The Meaning of the Holy Comforter
813-2 Sunday 05/27/1984
God the supreme source is best exemplified by the first ray and its outpouring. The Lord Christ is the representative of the second aspect of Divinity. The Holy Comforter, also called the Paraclete, has a representative. His name is the great Maha Chohan. The Holy Comforter is more frequently with us than the other two divine aspects of God. Godhead works for our improvement of life, its quality, its divinity, its overcoming. The Lord Christ works for our spiritualization, our regeneration. The Holy Comforter works for our unfoldment in knowledge and wisdom. The Lord Maha Chohan is a great example of wisdom.
Christmas' Significance on the Inner Planes
828-2 Sunday 12/23/1984
Flower reminds us that Christ is unique and has attained what no other man has. We wouldn't know God if it weren't for our Lord. He brought down God into our hearts in a knowing way. Although we know Christ best, God is no longer an abstraction to us. Christ means something, it means that here is One who has attained what no other person has. He didn't ask for this, it came upon Him. It was the grace of God that descended upon Him, chose Him, because there was no mark of defilement or impurity or prejudice in Him. He was the Son of God in the radiation of His light, and that radiation remains steadfast.
The New Year's Challenge
830-1 Sunday 01/13/1985
Flower describes how we should start each New Year and challenges us to use our time wisely. Whatever you need to overcome, know that Christ will help you if you take it before Him and include it in your daily work on your New Year resolution.
Christ in Our Daily Lives
836-1 Sunday 04/07/1985
Rev. Flower Newhouse speaks about how this past Lent has affected us, ways in which we can feel closer to Christ, through illness, through becoming more genuine, through our Christmas gift to Him. She describes how she has proceeded through this last Lenten period and every day to become closer to Christ.
