We have come from the light, from the place where the light came into being by itself, established Itself, and appeared in their image.
Gospel According to Thomas
After Christ's resurrection, many of the disciples were dispersed throughout the middle east to tell the world of Christ's eternal message of love and of the kingdom of God within. According to traditions, the Apostle Thomas reached Muziris, Tamilakam in present day India in A.D. 52 where he began baptizing and preaching. He is said to have founded what today are known as Saint Thomas Christians or Nasranis.
For this reason I say, if one is whole, one will be filled with light, but if one is divided, one will be filled with darkness.
Gospel According to Thomas
Thomas founded several churches throughout the area. The local king, Misdeus, became infuriated when Thomas converted his Queen Tertia, son Juzanes, and sister-in-law princess Mygdonia. King Misdeus led Thomas outside the city and ordered four soldiers to take him to the nearby hill, where the soldiers speared Thomas and killed him. There are still church communities today in india that maintain a distinctive identity to Thomas' original founding congregations.
