We are here in life for but one reason—to learn to climb through ascensions of consciousness into the true Selfhood which is within us—the Selfhood which belongs to the eternal, the Selfhood which is our real nativity, our home in God's spirit.

Life is an evolutionary journey back to God. Our Lord said, The kingdom of God is within you. For in the beginning, we were pressed out of God as pristine spirits. The journey of involution began when the Spirit of God in us formed an Adonai which became our Individuality. When it was time, a Soul body was formed. Eventually a mental, astral, and etheric body were needed as we underwent many brief incarnations preparing ultimately to receive a physical body to begin our life on earth. All these vehicles are with us in each lifetime as they are contained in our auras. God is within us.
The journey of evolution is the return to God or the completion of God through us. This means we want God functioning on all levels of our being. We often call this the path of perfection. It is a way of unfoldment that our Lord Christ gave all of us—a path to wholeness and completeness in God. We are taught to do this by expanding our consciousness and refining our characters. Through this process, we are walking in Christ's Way of return to Oneness with God on all levels of being.
Humanity's purpose for incarnating on earth, esoteric Christianity teaches, is to evolve, unfold and progress, moving from a semi-aware state to full and complete spiritual consciousness. It is to discover God continuously and completely. Everything the Divine created contains perfectibility and the means of ripening into completeness. Through this level of truth, we recognize the enduring plan under which all humanity evolves. Our deeper understanding of God's Divine plan reveals that physical life is like a school for our self-evolving being. God gave us life and that is a great gift to us. Now we must, through life after life of inner growth, perfect it. We return to earth many times until we have learned all its lessons. Every step of inner growth leads to an ever-increasing awareness of God and a deeper realization of the Real or God Spirit Indwelling.
