Centering words of faith
The chalice of mind needs to be brimming over with restful and cleansing realizations before we can consciously commune with the Holy Spirit. Before meditating we practice a clearance of consciousness by repeating thoughtfully and slowly statements that bring us into the Presence of God. These are the equivalent of mantras. Metaphysical students refer to them as affirmations. You will collect your own Watchwords as the years pass. They are found in writings of faith and devotion. They are also found in the Bible, in hymns and in poems. You should say them to yourself very slowly, visualizing the words as you proceed.
Today's watchword:
God is the resting place of my Soul.
O.L.
Here are some more sample watchwords for your consideration:
Create in me a clean heart, 0 God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10
The Spirit of the Lord speaks through me and His word is in my tongue.
II Samuel 23:2
Purify Thou me, 0 Lord, that I may worthily perform Thy service.
Liberal Catholic Litany
Stretch out my soul, O God, and make it deep enough for Thee to fill.

I like to use "God is the breath within my soul"..... "I come from God, I live within God, God is my destiny"... "God indwelling is an eternal Sun, raying outward goodness, Light, beauty, and love."... "Dwell in me, as I dwell within you."... "My soul rejoices in Thy knowing."... "In the blessed now and here, I behold Thee near."
