The Spirit of God

Christward 1938 Series

Spirit of God

Few persons have touched the border of that blissful state—adoration of God. This condition is not one of emotional hysteria, but rather a state of peaceful self-forgetfulness in reverence of the Eternal Spirit. In this mode of worship, the Mother/Father is loved for Itself, alone; not because of Its special kindnesses to us. Our thoughts inwardly scan the horizon of God's dominion. In our Creator, a complete universe exists in ordered rhythm. God's will and power reside equally at every point throughout indeterminate dimensions. What Jesus discerned in His selfless communion with the Divine Source so awed Him that He became the most eminent communicant of our Divine Parents' glories the world has known. The attainment of a genuine devotion for our Infinite Parent should underlie the efforts of our meditations and endeavors. We are reminded, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." These are the opening words of this lesson by Flower A. Newhouse originally published in 1938.

This course is open to anyone. If you wish to receive credit for this class, you'll be required to complete all aspects of the lesson including Study, Experience, Practice and Share.
