Celebration of the Christ Coming

The sacrament of Christmas is deep, profound and gladdening. It symbolizes the birth of our Lord in our own beings. It is the birth of cosmic consciousness of which He taught, and that all life is preparing us to channel—Christ love, peace and faith. We want to think of all He stands for and what He is helping us become. The more we think of the Christ's spiritual significance in our lives the more we take on His qualities and powers. When we celebrate Christmas as it deserves, the Light flows through us, and we are drawn closer to the Christ. On Friday night of this retreat, we offer a candle lighting service to all who come.

During the Holy Christmas season, we know that the Lord Christ draws closer to our earth than any other time of year. It is not that He is dwelling in some far place, but rather on planes higher than we can usually reach. But once a year, He descends and gets so close to this earth that the very atmosphere rings with the music of His qualities. Every act of kindness or expressed joy seems to be filled with the Light of this one whose birth we celebrate. His spirit is tangible among us.

To the Christian who is at least partially aware, the Nativity brings Christ into the Present. It renews our longing and endeavor to be Christ-born.
