Effective Ways of Dealing with Loneliness

053-1 Sunday 06/10/1956

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseThose who have a good and satisfying relationship with God are never lonely. And secondly, having this first, they cannot help but love people more and not only mankind, but the creatures and all of life. For if they love God, who made life, then they love that life itself. They love everything in it that is of God, the good. And wherein they find discords and that which is not of the good, they are so busy correcting the misery of the world, that they haven't time for grief or for loneliness or for the feelings of the lack of acceptance or of one's own inner disapproval. So in order to have permanent healing from loneliness, we need to consider those two things and what we can justly do about them.

The Gift of Spiritual Love

055-2 Sunday 02/24/1957

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower describes how persons who live a loveless life may on the surface appear popular or successful but that in time their inner state will manifest in psychosomatic illness, physical illness or in a number of other ways.  She suggests that before this happens we examine our own heart and that we ask God to show us how we can improve our relationships with others.  Flower goes on to talk about the various kinds of love, motherly love, sisterly love, brotherly love, friendship, and so on, but it is spiritual love that we need to express.  The love that Christ taught us.  Love for all of God's creation on earth.  She gives several examples of people who have lived spiritual love and how they have inspired, challenged and awakened us.

Every Christian a Healer

101-2 Sunday 11/30/1958

Lecture by Flower A. NewhousePeople can cause their own illnesses when the superego is in charge. Through their attitudes, they put up barriers to their own healing. There are five steps to wholeness. The first and most important of which is surrender to God's will. The second stage of spiritual healing is one expressed in the maxim, fast on negatives and feast on positives. The third rule is to remember that only God can heal. The fourth rule is to practice harmony to the fullest extent. Fifth, we must put ourselves into a state fit for healing. Our love for God must deepen continuously and forever.

The Positive Life

106-2 Sunday 03/01/1959

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower describes the Christ Ideal. She tells us that it is not enough to believe in a Deity, but we must strive to know God. She says that religion should make a difference, so much a difference that Christians should be known as Christians even though their names might not be known. They should express something, be far more tolerant, far more inspired and joyous and interested and outgoing and self-giving than are those who merely assent to God's Presence. Through descriptions and examples she guides us to follow the way of Christian Mysticism and reminds us that everyone who claims to love God has the great challenge to prove it by his or her living.

Postscript to Christmas

121-2 Sunday 12/27/1959

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseChristmas is such a high planetary experience. It is a perpetual baptism of spirit. Christmas can only be celebrated from the soul. We should deeply consider taking a part of our work for the new year, the promise to love spiritually, think spiritually, and will spiritually. Christmas is aligned to these powers and reflections of spirit. We want only that love which is spiritual. Love which is emotional is prideful, exclusive, it is critical, it is selfish. This day is what the Christ spirit needs to have as outposts of its consciousness. If we become instruments of its force, we may be sure that the power will flow through if we have the instrument ready. Gifts should be given all year, not just at Christmas. Describes a trip to Allentown where she met cousins. Describes the use of a strong archtypal word to help us through an ordeal.

Springtimes Festival

128-2 Sunday 04/24/1960

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseA new season begins the week after Easter. There is a distinct change is what we are receiving spiritually. We receive from the powers of nature. Nature is an enlightener that can be approached in our gardens or in the wilderness. To learn from nature, we must concentrate on the message of each place. Living in the city can desensitize us, but in the wilderness, we are spiritually reinvested. Trees should be a special love of the spiritual Christian. Nature has lessons for all of us, deep strong, true, creative, ever changing.

Studies in Progress (3 of 4): Progress through Grace

131-2 Sunday 06/19/1960

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseThe Spirit of Grace, the fourth Aspect of God, is essential to humanity's progress. The Spirit of Grace does not work through nations, but through people and even animals. Divine Grace can overcome the limitation, the eccentricities, and the egotism in men's hearts to bring about the unification and the protection of this world. The work of this Spirit is needed now more than ever to assure the continuation of humanity on earth. Examples of how the Spirit of Grace works through others are given as follows: St. Benedict, founder of the Benedictine Monks; St. Paul, Bernardo Jines, founder of a school for homeless boys in Lima, Peru; a dog named Peril; a chef who was cured at Lourdes. The best channels of Grace practice self-sacrifice, self-surrender, self-giving and love in action. We can be instruments of Grace by praying for the world to be saved by Grace.

Christs Contribution to the Preciousness of Life

143-1 Sunday 12/25/1960

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseWhen you step into the Christ current, you are made whole. Christmas is an achievement of history for which our Lord is responsible. When we approach it half-heartedly, when we don't give it our total selves, we not only fail him, but we fail all the yearnings of our superphysical and our subliminal nature. The Christ is a living reality and he is very much in action behind the scenes of our living. He is so occupied with his great work of being hierarch of all religions. He has given us a spiritual morality by which we live. He loves us each one so greatly, and His love is universal. It applies to those who are not Christian, just as much as those who are.

The Bridge of Realization

144-2 Sunday 01/15/1961

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower talks on the importance of developing and using our spiritual abilities to become more God aware. We must, as we go onward, see that we will be sensitized to Spirit safely only as we live the regenerate life, and only as we become more honest, more devoted, more self-sacrificing, more in love with God, and aware that God is our greatest need. She describes spiritual realization as a bridge. It is a mediator between our incompleteness in the physical and in the superphysical realm between those wondrous faculties we possess which could link us to wholeness and everlastingness, the spirit of beauty, the spirit of goodness, the Spirit of Christ. Ours is the choice.

The Hearts Symbolic Function

174-2 Sunday 02/11/1962

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower states that by being more awakened to the superphysical aspects of the heart we may come into greater control of this wondrous center. Some individuals experience heart awakenings during their lifetime, and some are born with their heart centers already functioning. Describes the heart chakra from physical and superphysical standpoints, including the heart center on astral, mental and soul levels. Explains that it is important as we progress in our Christian experience that we love others as well as those souls in the inner kingdoms, and in doing so our hearts shall be lifted. As ones heart is lifted upward, the hearts spiritual counterparts on each level vibrate at higher and higher levels, creating greater color in every body, as well as size of heart center. Indicates that there are 714 references to the heart in the Bible, New and Old Testaments. Quotes several of these, and recommends anyone who experiences difficulty with their heart, to read and use them in their life.

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseThrough several examples, including personal ones, Flower shares with us that in order for us to have spiritual love for humanity and the creatures we must have compassion and empathy, and that we should always be helpful to right a wrong situation. Right needs defense no matter for who it is, and we should do what we can to safeguard right and bring justice into action, into activity once again. Love is of God, and being of God it will bless the receiver as well as the possessor of this wondrous current. 284-2 Sunday 08/01/1965

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseFlower emphasizes the importance of tuning in to the Divinity in nature when we are in the out of doors. We must want very much to find God in His garment of nature. Of What Does an Ideal Awareness in Nature Consist?

308-2 Sunday 06/26/1966

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseThe more an individual loves nature the better is it revealed that he is advancing. The more mature the soul the deeper will be his love for the out-of-doors and for the creatures. God has placed within man an awareness, sometimes it is only intuitional but that is enough, of another kingdom; a kingdom that serves the trees, the grasses, the winds, the storm and all the loveliness of nature. And the same intuition tells us that we can receive much from this other side of life if we are open to its inner perspective.

Thanksgivings Transforming Power

318-1 Sunday 11/20/1966

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseThanksgiving opens the gates to the holy season of Christmas. Gratitude is the quality which reveals the beginning of greatness. In the inner planes, those who are perfected watch for these qualifications. First, gratitude, second, humility, and third, love. Keeping a gratitude journal helps us become more appreciative. Self-centeredness is an enemy of gratitude and greatness. Thanksgiving is transforming because it keeps us in the attitude of touching that which is holy and being immersed in it and blessed by it.

Eternal Resources of Spirit

359-1 Sunday 04/07/1968

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseJesus went through the ordeal on the cross, not as a ritual, but in full consciousness. In becoming a Lord with the full investments of Christhood, He could become the Christ Regent. We too are on the way to our own Christship. We will never be Christ as our Lord is Christ Hierarch, but we must be vested with the Christ within us. Our work is to face our own initiations. We have three things to do in f acing initiations. We must know ourselves spiritually, know ourselves in the world, and know the world in ourselves. The first degree of initiation is the one of rebirth. The second degree of initiation is baptism with power. The third degree of initiation requires of us spiritual maturity. The fourth degree of initiation requires that we conquer for good ego and self love. The fifth degree of initiation takes one into mastership.

The Quality of Mercy and How to Apply It

367-1 Sunday 07/21/1968

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseAt least ninety percent of all that blesses us is from the Spirit of Grace. A small percentage comes from what we have earned. Spirit of Grace is a great reservoir of Divine stored energy that is wholly related to and dedicated to Divine mercy and the dispensing of grace throughout the cosmos; under the dispensation of and guidance of a woman Lord called a Regina. God's givingness flows to us from the source of grace, more than from any other source. Spirit of Grace alone will give without demanding any cost whatsoever. Must not ask for grace for ourselves; only for others. We need to be channels of grace, toward ourselves and to others; younger souls who need someone to help. Small things as important as big things. Flower shares how important it is to love and care for animals.

The Three Paths to Union with God

379-2 Sunday 01/19/1969

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseThree different ways to God are examined. Reverend Newhouse explains the drawbacks and strengths of each of these paths: the path of service; the path of the intellect; and the path of devotion or love. Each of us belongs to one of these ways quite naturally. However as we advance we begin to take on the white light of truth so that the qualities of the other ways, even those that are outside of the three we mentioned, and we become a composite of all those ways of development by which men are led to Divine union.

As you serve the Christ, the adventure you will know of becoming more universal and more cosmic in your appreciation will be the most wondrous spiritual adventure you have ever enjoyed. Christ will not finish His work until the whole planet and all of humanity of every century is brought to its highest degree of development.

Faith Versus Need

408-1 Sunday 01/18/1970

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseThis talk is on the subject of faith as it relates to one's needs, primarily in relation to health or financial. Of all the things that we require the most spiritually it is faith. Flower shares several examples of individuals, including herself, who have been helped in outer ways when they have put their trust in God. She reminds us that although our circumstances may appear limiting, we must never limit God. She also describes what happens esoterically when one exhibits this quality. Faith, love, and integrity bring about in their blending a glorious beautification of the mental body, the astral body, the etheric body which have a residual effect upon the physical form.

The Value of Knowing There Are Angels

435-1 Sunday 09/27/1970

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseIn this informative talk on the Angels, we discover the multitudes that there are, from Angels of Birth and Angels of Death, to Angels of Nature and Angels of the Christ's Presence. We could never exhaust the types of Angels that there are and with every new season that comes, we realize more deeply and more joyously how wonderful it is to be granted one more insight into an activity of an Angelic Presence we had never even surmised existed before. We learn the importance of honoring the Angels and that their capacity to love is far greater than anything we humans can comprehend, especially that of our Guardian Angels. Angels are infinitely wise, and they have a love for creation that is almost incomprehensible to us. For that reason they can serve so nobly, so daringly, and so purely.

449-2 Sunday 02/14/1971

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseThis talk is full of examples, some personal, of ways to express agape or spiritual love, which is the highest type of love we should all be striving toward. Flower emphasizes that this love needs to be given to the animals, nature, and our pets as well as toward humanity. In describing agape love she says that this love, which knows no division, no separation, no superiority, but which loves every race, every creed, is capable of transcending all kinds of religious barriers, and is also capable of separating the barriers which man has put up between himself and the creatures, and between himself and nature. Most importantly, it is not enough to understand what agape love is, it must be expressed in our daily living.

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseGratitude, a soulic quality, is cardinal among all virtues. Before we can love spiritually, we must have gratitude. Before we can have integrity of character, gratitude must be present. Individuals who possess clairvoyance can tell the stage of development of an individual by the way he ways thank you and the way he lives in gratitude. When one expresses courteous appreciation, there is color, and it's royal purple. Story of the wise men and the sermon on the mount, and blessing things before they manifest. We need three days to do Thanksgiving properly - a day to write down our blessings, a day to come to church and give thanks, and a day for celebration with loved ones. Never be envious of anyone. Make up your mind to rejoice in the happiness of others.

How Well Are You Improving Your Relationships?

526-2 Sunday 03/25/1973

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseIn this talk the difference between personal love and spiritual love is clarified. Flower tells us while personal love is rewarding in that it leads us away from ourselves, it often has negative qualities attached such as fear and judgment, and it is limiting. Spiritual love, however sees all with the same degree of depth and of caring and of wanting the best for others that we wish for our nearest and dearest. And when we achieve spiritual love, the happiness of others will mean so much to us. And those who are our dearest and nearest, who have earned that right from other incarnations and we the right to be with them, too, will achieve from us a love which is incomprehensible. Flower gives several examples, both with humans and animals, of the type of love we all should be striving for.

What Inner Meaning Is Behind Being Lost Or Saved?

527-2 Sunday 04/08/1973

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseDifference described between Christianity and churchianity. Discussion of Catholic faith, Protestant and other faiths. Discussion of meaning of being lost or saved. Apostle Paul's version of being saved vs. our Lord's. Emerson met several famous authors in England and was disappointed to find they were not the same persons that their writings indicated. He felt Henry Wordsworth was the most outstanding and was one person at all times. Teilhard de Chardin was a 4th degree initiate and was badly treated by the church. After his passing his writings have been accepted. Explains that psychopaths have lost contact with their souls. After they return to primal essence and are sent out into life again they will be reunited with the seed atoms of their souls. The two things that can't be compelled from us are belief and love.

The Aspect of the Divine Mother

570-1 Sunday 12/08/1974

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseGod is a consuming Fire' and 'God is Love' verses, are both true, describing different attributes of the same spirit. Father aspect of God much emphasized, and the Mother aspect receives too little attention in traditional churches. God which is Spirit is beyond our concept, but when God wished to incarnate on earth at that entrance into the world of Adonai, then God was separated into two aspects, male and female. Representative of feminine is Holy Universal World Mother, a real person, a Regina. Cares for, nurtures people and animals in need. Her outposts include Master Mary, Kwan Yin. Examples of world mothers include Mother Teresa. As a man evolves, he begins to be gentled, begins to love, to become more tender. As woman evolves, she becomes strong, sees the light of reasoning. God the Father is strength; God the Mother is love; God the Son is light. Includes remembrances of Mary in Palestine.

Thanksgiving the Giver of Spiritual Joy

620-2 Sunday 11/21/1976

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseWe do not practice gratitude just on one day in the year, but it is good publicly, and together, to celebrate the thanksgiving that is always in our hearts. One of the most important qualities we can unfold or develop is the one of appreciation. One of the qualities that comes forth when we are grateful for everything God has made is the quality of remembrance. Jesus blessed something before the ripening or fulfillment appeared. Every day, we should remember constantly the goodness of God. The Divine love, the wisdom, the wonderful feeling of joy and infinite patience which God has. Includes story of Flower's struggle to feel gratitude after Lawrence's passing. The one who is the most grateful is the happiest, the most giving and receives the largest renewal. Gratitude is a magnet for good. Talk is concluded by questions and answers on a variety of topics.

Love That Is Ennobling

626-2 Sunday 02/13/1977

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseIn order for Valentine's Day to have any meaning it should be practiced every day. And in order for it to be that, then we must follow the eleventh commandant of the Christ which was added in principal to the ten commandants from the Old Testament. Jesus said: 'a new commandant I give unto you that you love one another as I have loved you.' This breathes of a different kind of love than most people express toward each other. And this great eleventh commandant is one we should reflect upon daily for when we do that it saves us in so many ways and it enables us to lift up our consciousness and to give love in such a way that it is help and a lifting influence to others. Even in practical ways spiritual love is seen to excel.

Maytimes Inner Mysteries

657-2 Sunday 05/07/1978

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseIt means so much to those who are so much greater than men for human beings to look up and into the world of God. There they stand bringing to us a new love of the outdoors. A love of everything which refines us, ennobles us, and brings us into deeper appreciation of beauty, whether it is in a song, or a symphony, or a poem, whether it is a painting we see or the real natural mural of the out-of-doors. If we allow our hearts to express this season more than our minds we, through feeling, will intuitionally tune into the great, great Hierarchy of Divine Servers which is about us at this time.

Let Us Cultivate Spiritual Love

676-2 Sunday 02/11/1979

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseValentine's Day reminds us of love. There are so many kinds of love. There is carnal love, personal love, there is spiritual love, too. And of these three types only spiritual love will help others and ourselves, and spiritual love is what the Lord Christ taught. You know, He expressed the eleventh commandment when He said, 'A new commandment give I unto thee, that ye might love one another as I have loved you.' That is different than the love that a husband would give his wife or a mother her child. Spiritual love goes beyond personal love. Personal love can be beautiful, but it, too, is limited.

Angels

874-2 Sunday 09/28/1986

Lecture by Flower A. NewhouseOrthodox churches may mention but don't teach about Angels. Angels are a glorious order. They are so much higher, their purity, goodness, love and self-giving is in what they are and do for those they serve. God wanted man and the creatures to be cared for, and very lovingly. Angels were given charge of caring for us. Whoever hasn't seen an Angel or loved one, is very impoverished. Flower describes several different orders of Angels and their interactions with men, animals, other needs. Angels of healing, of love, of initiation, of time, of transformation, of guardianship, of protection, of destiny, and many others. Angels are desirous of helping people understand what it is they are to know; to realize that they should improve their relationships; to know that they can be stronger than they are. There's no mother's love, no teacher's love, no child's love, that can ever compare to your Guardian Angel's love. Wherever you go, you will be protected.
