Being True to Ourselves (058-2 Sunday 10/7/1956)
If you could think of persons in this world who had inspired you the most individually and directly I wonder if the definition of the quality that came to you most strongly was not one of goodwill. Those souls that are surcharged with the spaciousness and the inclusive consciousness of goodwill have learned many lessons. They dwell in areas of width that so many people never know anything about until they themselves want to know and to understand and to love all. Excerpts...

An Endeavor towards Awakenment (073-1 Sunday 8/4/1957)
As we practice qualifications of becoming aware, which is reverence and opening a lifeline of spiritual contact or communion between the invisible and the manifest visible world, we cannot help but grow and discover glimpses of greater awareness. Give first attention to God, lifting up and giving ourselves each day to the Supreme, to channel, correct, transform, enliven, bless and heal. The more reverent we are, the more sensitive, more informed intuitionally we can become. Excerpts...
Explaining the Meaning of War Esoterically (070-2 Sunday 9/22/1957)
It is needful in these days that we face, to consider deeply the spiritual meaning of war because if we can understand it once and for all, some of its suffering and some of its pathos will be gone. We might even be able to see it constructively and it might be able to help us inwardly to better see that a definite end is brought about concerning war. Excerpts...
Man's Three Great Needs (078-1 Sunday 11/3/1957)
Flower reveals the three tasks we should be practicing to achieve our purpose for being on this earth. They are quite simple in theory, but very difficult for most of us to achieve in the outer world. Even if we believe in putting God first in our lives, most of us relegate the Divine to an inferior position. She says we should take the words printed on the U.S. currency, 'In God we trust,' and let that trust come alive. Excerpts...
Highlights of the Study of Numbers (082-2 Sunday 2/2/1958)
Everything in the world physically and in the inner worlds is attuned to rhythm, frequency and number. Pythagoras is responsible for our arithmetic. India began the system that begins with zero and it meant God. Explanations given for meaning of numbers 0 to 9 both in our birth dates and names. Pythagoras taught 3 important things to prepare us for spiritual study are gymnasium, music and numbers. Quotes given from Ariel Taylor on numbers and explanation of numbers 11 and 22. Excerpts...
Nature's Portals of Instruction (088-1 Sunday 6/8/1958)
It is nature, which is the great healer and the restorer, the transformer and the instructor. Flower describes the importance of sensing spiritually when we are in the out of doors and the transformation that can take place when we do. She shares experiences of spiritually awakened naturalists who have practiced this and how we should follow their example. When at last we begin to understand this great world of nature, we will understand that nature is our greatest investment. Excerpts...
What Lies Behind Illness (087-2 Sunday 6/29/1958)
There are with the exception of accidents, three general causes of illness. They are bacteria, degeneration, and stress. Functional disorders arise out of situational or environmental or work problems, or our relationship to our work situation or our family situation or the world at large. Out of the situational maladjustments come the disorders including headaches, colds, colitis, stomach upsets, and any number of conditions. Summarizes studies by Dr. Robert Collier Page on stress illnesses in the workplace. Excerpts...

Life's Unfinished Business (109-1 Sunday 4/19/1959)
We know the weaknesses we have brought forward and in our reflection period each night we should review the day looking at what we have contributed to the past, the present and the future so we can unfold and develop our potentials. Flower describes a book on intuition that says if we want steadiness and self-control we must release self-indulgence. The intuitional faculty transcends the intellectual one and as we transcend and transform, we evolve, drop what binds us and come into a state of receptivity. Once we receive intuitions and they work out constructively, we begin to have a foothold in the world of God's Light and to more fully trust intuition. Excerpts...
Aligning All of Our Vehicles with Healing Currents (109-2 Sunday 4/26/1959)
Speaking of the interconnection between mind, body and emotions and the need for inner wholeness and oneness with the Divine Indwelling, Rev. Newhouse uses the example of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde as a man with a divided nature. She tells of Bishop Stephen Neil of England who helped people suffering from nervous problems to learn to identify the dividedness of their nature and to work to unify it. She presents the work of Psychiatrist Dr. Abraham Lowe who held recovery meetings for mental patients to teach them to recover from their illness by learning to use their muscles to train their brains to resume rightful management of the body. The power, oneness and maturity of the Lord Christ is given as the greatest example of wholeness the world has ever known. Excerpts...
Individual Immortality (110-2 Sunday 5/31/1959)
In this lifetime, we are responsible for building a conscious bridge between this dimension and the world and experience of God. We should take our Christian faith so much to heart that we have a readiness to leave this body when God wills. We are not allowed, no matter how deeply we love, to let that love take the place of our love for God. Describes the Angel of Transition as mighty, strong, resplendent, all-glorious. Describes post-transition experiences, hosts present at Memorial Services, battlefield victims leaving their bodies as cocoons, welcomed by Shining Being. Excerpts...
Studies in Greatness (3 of 3) (130-1 Sunday 5/29/1960)
In this third talk on 'greatness', Flower explains that before our evolution is finished, each of us must attain the spiritualizing of the will and self-surrender that characterizes true greatness. This talk focuses on the illumined Initiate of Light Emanual Swedenborg, his growing clairvoyance, his ability to tune into the inner worlds with full waking consciousness, his description of three main groupings in the inner world and his willingness to reveal to mankind the inner experience to which we will all graduate. Excerpts...
Studies in Progress (1 of 4): Progress through Challenge (130-2 Sunday 6/5/1960)
This first talk in a series on human progress begins by reminding us how important it is to live in the present. Don't count what you are going to be according to your futuristic hopes and dreams. Live in today. The present moment is the only moment in which you will ever live in any dimension and therefore, telescope all that you know in this moment at hand. She goes on to review humankind's progress from barbarians to the modern age with its emphasis on intellectualism and our individual part in humanity's goal of world unity and peace. Using Albert Schweitzer as an example, she says, 'you and I are expected to remember these two things every day, every moment: I need to achieve spiritual enlightenment and unfoldment through reverence, and at the same time give myself largely and willingly and joyously to others, while I help the world achieve more peace and more unity.' Excerpts...
Studies in Progress (2 of 4): Progress through Faith (131-1 Sunday 6/12/1960)
Faith is self-commitment which depends on God's sufficiency, not man's self-reliance. Lew Ayres, former actor, went on faith around the world filming world faiths. Examples of George Muller's work building an orphanage. Example of a progressive school in Pacific Palisades that teaches pre-school children and their parents to recognize that through spiritual faith their relationship can be more beautiful. Lessons Flower learned from her Korean-American children. The best gift parents can give their children is a background in which character can develop. We must practice faith in overcoming bad habits. Examples of tithing and success that followed. Excerpts...
Studies in Progress (3 of 4): Progress through Grace (131-2 Sunday 6/19/1960)
The Spirit of Grace, the fourth Aspect of God, is essential to humanity's progress. The Spirit of Grace does not work through nations, but through people and even animals. Divine Grace can overcome the limitation, the eccentricities, and the egotism in men's hearts to bring about the unification and the protection of this world. The work of this Spirit is needed now more than ever to assure the continuation of humanity on earth. Examples of how the Spirit of Grace works through others are given as follows: St. Benedict, founder of the Benedictine Monks; St. Paul, Bernardo Jines, founder of a school for homeless boys in Lima, Peru; a dog named Peril; a chef who was cured at Lourdes. The best channels of Grace practice self-sacrifice, self-surrender, self-giving and love in action. We can be instruments of Grace by praying for the world to be saved by Grace. Excerpts...
Persons I'd Like to See Alive Today (134-1 Sunday 7/24/1960)
Stressing the great value of the Sabbath, Rev. Newhouse explains that the progress made in our world is the result of great souls who lived on earth. She discusses Initiates she wishes were back in our world today and explains each of their special strengths. These Initiates include Elijah, Confucius, Socrates, Virgil, Prestor John, Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Browning, Marguerite Valois, John Ruskin, William James, and Edvard Grieg. Excerpts...
Seership: Its Role and Value (136-2 Sunday 9/11/1960)
Flower talks about the purpose clairvoyance serves spiritual seekers and leaders. She uses many examples from the prophets of the Bible to modern day seers. Clairvoyant talents come for one reason, to cause people to be aware of the superconscious that is within them and of the Divine overshadowing reality which envelops them, and to make them conscious participants in the world of the Divine. The lofty aim of religion is to bring us to that wise development of sensitivity where we will be able to know union with the Divine in an aware, in a direct, in a very reverent sense. Excerpts...
How Thoughts Influence Life (in San Diego) (150-1 Sunday 4/23/1961)
Flower stresses the importance of being aware of and using rightly the power of our thoughts. You think a thought and it is a living thing. It is a moving thing. It is color. It is pattern. And the clearer your thought is in meditation or prayer, the larger the pattern of your thought will be as it moves along. If you are very reverent, your thought pattern will move up. It is very important for every Christian to arouse himself, to shake off the lethargy that has been upon him, and to see that his mind is fully dedicated to God because there is that above mind, which is much greater than mind, which will use all the forces of the mental powers in order to guide them, to instruct, to teach, to mold, to bless the energies of consciousness as well as of emotions and of the physical body and of the affairs in the world. Excerpts...
Lessons from Past Civilizations (151-2 Sunday 4/30/1961)
Mankind is very decidedly standing at a crossroad and trying to decide whether to turn to the right or the left. Other civilizations have met comparable challenges. Some of them have succeeded in overcoming the challenges that we are making. Others have succumbed to the temptations and deteriorated from within by thinking themselves superior to other races or nations and treating them as subhuman or becoming complacent. And so our world indeed is facing a terrible crisis, the outcome no one knows. What is needed is creative humility of the type that will be dependent upon the only power that sees us through the ordeals ahead; and that is the spirit of God. Excerpts...
The Spiritual Value of a Talisman (160-2 Sunday 8/20/1961)
Ancient use of symbols in Chaldea, Egypt and Greece drew freshets of power. Illumination is often charged with symbols and so are dreams. The ancient world considered mandalas, or talismans, to have spiritual power and contain messages from God. Constantine's dream of a flaming cross led to success in battle and ultimately becoming Emperor. Flower described a sample mandala one might receive to symbolize goals of entire life. Description of symbol of a tree, sun, star, triangle, etc. Amulets were used to repel evil. Arthur Waite's invocation for blessing of a mandala or talisman. Quotes of Edgar Allen Poe and Jacob Boehme given. Excerpts...
The Third Eye and What It Signifies (161-1 Sunday 9/24/1961)
Flower addresses the reality of Extra-Sensory Perception, a faculty sometimes called the Third Eye or Second Sight, which is present in everyone but dormant in most and which provides information about the physical worlds as well as worlds beyond. She tells of prophets of ancient and more modern times who were skilled in its use including MacDonald, Elijah, John, Boehme, Swedenborg, Arthur Waite, Martinez Pasquales, Abbe Fournie and Jean Baptiste Willermoz.. She speaks of false prophets that focus on the glamorous, and the gradations of progress in the flower, rock and tree worlds. She says she would not give anything for her ability to see this other world. Excerpts...
More about Christian Mysticism (176-1 Sunday 3/4/1962)

Briefly reviews history and purpose of Memorial Day, which permits us to remember the presences of those who have been part of our lives who are no more here, but who are very much alive in the world of God. Describes events at and following transition, beginning with Angel of Transition. Describes Three Pools of Energy: cleansing, renewal, and baptism. Necessity for person to attend Memorial Service. During Life review, each person is their own judge. After thorough life review, reunion with loved ones, then exploration of inner worlds. Description of astral world sites of beauty and great interest. Mental world landscapes quite different. Excerpts...
Benefits from the Life of Saint Patrick (218-1 Sunday 3/17/1963)
Flower brings to light the way the Hierarchy chooses its ambassadors to man on earth, choosing some because of their gifts and others through channeling. St. Patrick, who was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a young man, was probably chosen because that area of the world needed Christianizing. He established three hundred and sixty churches. Alfred the Great in the ninth century was likely chosen for the purpose of unifying England which he did so well that many other kings turned their reigns over to him. Louis the Ninth demonstrated that a monarch could live purely and consecratedly. He participated in the Crusades and became known as the 'Mediator of Europe' giving advice that was always just. Excerpts...
Dreams and What They Can Mean (220-1 Sunday 3/31/1963)
The fascinating and illuminating world of dream interpretation is explored by Flower. Using the Swiss Psychiatrist, Carl Jung, as a primary source for dream symbols and meaning, many examples are shared of the importance of exploring our subconscious through our dreams. In this way we can further our spiritual growth as well as heal ourselves physically, mentally, and emotionally. Flower concludes this talk stressing the importance of remembering and recording our dreams by saying, 'a dream, which is uninterrupted, is like a letter, which has never been read.' Excerpts...
The Staff of the Illumined (221-2 Sunday 4/21/1963)
Perfected souls came with powerful inspiration. Their words have been recorded down to our present day. They have a message for us which shall outlast this planet's lifetime. When we consider what a soul undergoes in the journey of evolution through this human way, we know that the human career begins at the stage of individualization. There is a long vast journey of growth and unfoldment, and then at last the first degree of initiation, or rebirth, is achieved. When this stage comes, man becomes a part of a larger order. He becomes a member of the Great White Brotherhood, and he serves no longer his own unfoldment, but the development of the world. Then there is a later stage, of the fifth initiation, when the human evolution ceases, and the superhuman evolution begins. Excerpts...

Living above the Visible (255-2 Sunday 7/26/1964)
States that our great purpose in this incarnation is to live above the visible plane; to have conscious affiliation with Divine world of spirit from which we came, to which we forever belong. Christ says the Kingdom of Heaven is within us; we are to increase awareness of these inner worlds. Psychology and parapsychology are increasing openness and sensitivity to them. Describes the training undertaken by Sufi mystics, travelers on the great path. Excerpts...

The Activities of Invisible Helpers (262-2 Sunday 11/1/1964)
Discusses human helpers in the inner worlds, those who help souls who have recently come across. Servers help people who were like themselves when they left this plane. Part of their restitution is to welcome and prepare these souls. Helpers of newly transitioned souls with difficulties (suicides, murderers, murder victims) may take person to sanitaria for healing of inner bodies. Humble helper, a human being who has gone into the higher worlds ahead of the rest of us, is only allowed to help for two generations of humankind. He must know all the circumstances that this person who has newly died has been meeting. After two generations, that's impossible, as our world and its inventions progresses so fast, so; swift turnover of servers of this type. Other helpers work praying for similar persons yet on earth, helping them bring forth new developments for good. Excerpts...
When We Lived Under Other World Faiths (270-1 Sunday 1/17/1965)
Flower discusses traits of ancient religions and philosophies. They satisfy us at different levels of our growth, but they will not satisfy persons of other levels. As we evolve, we are led to different teachers, to different faiths, in order that in their classrooms we can learn the wisdom or the emphasis that is necessary to us at that period of our instruction within. Excerpts...
Plausible Explanations Regarding Certain Enigmas (274-1 Sunday 3/21/1965)
Much of the material for this talk was taken from Frank Edwards book, Strange World. In regard to strange and scientifically unexplained earthly events, Flower shares possible spiritual explanations for these occurrences. From nature mysteries to 'boy wonders' she tells story after story of strange phenomena that have baffled mankind over the years. Let us appreciate it when it happens, but let it always remind us that the Creator who made us and this world and this cosmos is greater than any of His laws. And at any time He wishes He can supersede them, which He sometimes does to our amazement. Excerpts...
The Meaning and Value of the Sacraments (299-2 Sunday 2/20/1966)
There is great esoteric Christian meaning during the symbolical rites of the various sacraments. Christ is the Light of the World symbolized by candles in a church. Incense symbolizes the coming of the Wise Men. Descriptions are given about what takes place superphysically during different ceremonies. The bread and juice used in communion taste different after being blessed. At memorial services the person who passed must be present and receive the thought forms of those who are honoring him. We should bless and dedicate new buildings businesses, memorial trees, and our cars. Excerpts...
Adepts of the West (302-1 Sunday 3/27/1966)
Flower discusses adepts, initiates, masters and esoteric groups throughout history, concentrating on those of the western world. After discussing Manes, the Paraclete, and Manicheaism, she indicates various ways that inner truths were disseminated, including various Orders of chivalry, troubadours, bards, guilds, and lists famous alchemists and instructors. She lists many inner Orders and notes that we potentially or actually, are serving these Orders whose vows we keep and radiate in living. Excerpts...

She describes the various duties and responsibilities of the different types of Angels and stresses the important role They have in our everyday life. Excerpts...

Describes guidance from Master John via Guardian Angel; describes Christ's appearance to her in mountains. Every atom in our bodies will constitute our own world or planet or star with which you must deal when you become an adept, later a Lord, and later still, a Logos. Excerpts...
The Light That Fills the Hearts of Men (320-1 Sunday 12/25/1966)
Through Christ we receive the impulse of the Christing of our own nature. When the Lord Jesus became the Lord Emmanuel at His ascension, He became the director of the Christ Spirit and charged it with his own Beinghood. We have a twofold responsibility: firstly, to remember our Lord Christ and what he represents; secondly, we owe our Lord the increase of the Christ spirit, day by day, by making the commonplace uncommon. The meaning of Christmas is so deep because it unites the physical and eternal world, and it relates us to that part of us which has always belonged to God and will forever. When the Christ looks at you, he makes you feel as though he sees the God indwelling that you are becoming. He makes you know that he sees what you can be. Excerpts...
The Significance of Sacred Cities and Sites (353-2 Sunday 3/3/1968)
Esoteric insights into the different energy currents and influences that emanate from different sites around the world. It has been our great interest throughout this incarnation to be conscious of the fact that in some places there issued forth a power that was not felt elsewhere. It has been fascinating to observe how some cities and some sites possess colors, frequencies and influences different than exist elsewhere. Excerpts...
Eternal Resources of Spirit (359-1 Sunday 4/7/1968)
Jesus went through the ordeal on the cross, not as a ritual, but in full consciousness. In becoming a Lord with the full investments of Christhood, He could become the Christ Regent. We too are on the way to our own Christship. We will never be Christ as our Lord is Christ Hierarch, but we must be vested with the Christ within us. Our work is to face our own initiations. We have three things to do in f acing initiations. We must know ourselves spiritually, know ourselves in the world, and know the world in ourselves. The first degree of initiation is the one of rebirth. The second degree of initiation is baptism with power. The third degree of initiation requires of us spiritual maturity. The fourth degree of initiation requires that we conquer for good ego and self love. The fifth degree of initiation takes one into mastership. Excerpts...
The Years of Jesus Until 30 (384-2 Sunday 3/2/1969)
Describes Christ's early life in Nazareth, including vibrant details of His family and the countryside. These recollections come from Flower's own memories of that life. Flower states when He was here as the historical Jesus, He did not need to be taught, by any person, any philosophy, any book, that which He came to say. Jesus traveled widely in Palestine, but did not study in India or other countries. Describes His temptations and triumphant victory over evil. Excerpts...
What Religion Is Attempting to Achieve (402-1 Sunday 10/12/1969)
Flower describes some troublesome trends in our country and how we need to take a stand for Truth. The emphasis is put on how we need to constantly be striving for growth toward God. She says, With spiritual illumination comes the realization that God is endeavoring to perfect His creation. For each phase of His creation, He has a purpose. He achieves the perfecting of creation through various means; one of them is through His love and caring for creation. Excerpts...
Glory of Angelhood (472-2 Sunday 9/26/1971)
An Angel has already had 124 initiations; first as elemental creature, then a deva, and then at long last the development of Angelhood. Astonishing beauty enfolded in color mists, and only the face, head and throat, the hands and sometimes arms, and the feet are visible. The rest is like a cloud of light about them. According to their degree of unfoldment and also their specific way of serving will the great Angels have a color aura. An Angel's eyes are very large. More orders than we can imagine, working for the world. Flower describes many of these orders: Elohim; national, state and city Angels; Angels of Time, Years, Centuries, Seasons; Angels of North, South, East, West; Planetary Angels at chakras; Solar Angels; St Michael and Warrior hosts; Angels in charge of animals; many more. Excerpts...
Man's Ties with His Country (610-1 Sunday 7/4/1976)
Rev. Flower A. Newhouse commemorates the 200th anniversary of our nation's independence. This independence came about through great sacrifice, courage and wisdom. That wisdom came in from the the Phoenician's who gave our country its spirit of enterprise, and the Ancient Greeks who gave us our ideals for justice. Flower explains America's spiritual heritage and the greatness of our Founding Fathers and the American Spirit. Excerpts...

Christian Mysticism is simply a method of reverence and devotion to God. It is a path of attainment which leads to the Divine Reality–to first-hand knowing of God. The mystical path stresses the way of Divine union with God through illumination.
The Living Christ is the Lord of Angels and of men and the model of our own becoming. His service is the broadcasting of the Divine Christ Spirit, the light of redemption. His influence awakens in us the Christing of our own natures.
The Way of Discipleship is a way of drawing ever closer to the Divine Presence. It is a voluntary surrender of the entire self to the service of God. It pays great attention to spiritual realities and goals inspiring us toward inner growth.
Meditation and Prayer are the disciplines that most directly draw us Godward and into the inner worlds. During these moments, we consciously purify ourselves of worldly or personal preoccupations and center ourselves wholly upon consciousness of God.
The Angelic Kingdom consists of beings created by God. They, like mankind, press toward the goal of perfection and union with the Supreme Spirit. Angels are purer and more spiritual than man. Their very spirituality readily makes them mediators between Heaven and Earth.
Nature provides healing and enlightenment. When wisely trod, the path to God through nature employs every faculty inherent in man. In nature, beauty shines in all its pristine essence before us. It is for us to newly discover and translate this beauty to our spirits and our senses.
Reincarnation is the realization that life is a school, striving to awaken and quicken the Divinity within us, striving to bring man from primitive stages of unfoldment to that of greater and more glorious awareness.
The life and writings of Flower A. Newhouse are those of a Christian mystic, and her insights into the inner realms of life provide us with a path to wholeness that she called "Living the Life." These teachings are not doctrine, but a practical guide to the direct, immediate experience of God. Flower's mission was also to reawaken humanity to the reality of angels, a work she began with her first book in 1937, and added to in many published writings and in recorded lectures.
