Followed by 18 minutes of Q&A. Excerpts...
Christ's Star-like Spirit (015-1 Sunday 12/19/1954)
During Christmas there are openings into the Reality of Christ wherever there is appreciation for goodness. By following His path, remaining open and aligned to that which is above us, we will be raised in consciousness. The triad of Holy God powers that The Christ came to radiate and teach us, will become more active in us and gradually govern us. Excerpts...
Michaelmas Feast of the Angels (030-2 Sunday 9/25/1955)
Focuses on the importance of Angel awareness to Christians. Urges us to acknowledge the Angels at all times, not just at high occasions such as Michaelmas and Christmas, but in our daily lives. Cites several passages in the Bible where Angels are referenced and shares of great souls who were aware of Angel Presences, and world religions that honor the Angels. Excerpts...
Preparing for the Christmas Sacrament and Bringing the Christmas Tide into the Present Tense (037-2 Sunday 12/18/1955)
The Heart of Christmas (036-1 Sunday 12/25/1955)
The more we worship Christ, the more He dominates the center of our consciousness, because we choose to be Christ-led, Christ-centered. The gift we give Him each year is our self; deepened, widened, opened more receptively, made more sympathetic, made more appreciative to His vast and eternal ministry. Excerpts...
Spiritual Qualities Maytime Represents (100-1 Sunday 5/4/1958)

Christmas in the Heart (122-1 Sunday 12/20/1959)
Christmas is an event of spiritual empowerment. It is a bestowal from great cosmic glories. We require planetary and solar nourishment which is poured out at the great spiritual festivals. Explains the symbolism of the Christmas tree, decorations, and gift giving. Let us use whatever will lift our emotions - music, symbolism in decoration, the shared impressions of love for Christmas, all that is food to our emotional body and mentally gives us an impetus toward the development of greater character. Excerpts...
Postscript to Christmas (121-2 Sunday 12/27/1959)
Christmas is such a high planetary experience. It is a perpetual baptism of spirit. Christmas can only be celebrated from the soul. We should deeply consider taking a part of our work for the new year, the promise to love spiritually, think spiritually, and will spiritually. Christmas is aligned to these powers and reflections of spirit. We want only that love which is spiritual. Love which is emotional is prideful, exclusive, it is critical, it is selfish. This day is what the Christ spirit needs to have as outposts of its consciousness. If we become instruments of its force, we may be sure that the power will flow through if we have the instrument ready. Gifts should be given all year, not just at Christmas. Describes a trip to Allentown where she met cousins. Describes the use of a strong archtypal word to help us through an ordeal. Excerpts...
Christ's Contribution to the Preciousness of Life (143-1 Sunday 12/25/1960)
When you step into the Christ current, you are made whole. Christmas is an achievement of history for which our Lord is responsible. When we approach it half-heartedly, when we don't give it our total selves, we not only fail him, but we fail all the yearnings of our superphysical and our subliminal nature. The Christ is a living reality and he is very much in action behind the scenes of our living. He is so occupied with his great work of being hierarch of all religions. He has given us a spiritual morality by which we live. He loves us each one so greatly, and His love is universal. It applies to those who are not Christian, just as much as those who are. Excerpts...
Christmas Eve Midnight Watch 1961 (168-2 Sunday 12/24/1961)
The hour before midnight on Christmas Eve, 1961, the Reverend Flower A. Newhouse gathered in the Church of the Holy Quest with those who follow her teachings to witness and describe the annual inner procession honoring the Lord Christ. His keynote: 'Cleave to Divinity. Its course through you shall be for strengthening. Mighty are the works of Eternity.' Excerpts...
Christmas in the Year 1961 (167-2 Sunday 12/24/1961)
Christmas is a high, glorious, mysterious event. We aspire to its innermost meaning. When we are spiritually impoverished, help is given from beyond ourselves, enabling us to be freed from being rooted in ourselves. Through love of him and being sent in him, we can sense the majesty and glory of the movement of power and wonder that is everywhere around us. The splendor of Christmas is revealed to us when we are in a childlike state of purity, that beholds God in his glory and responds in purity and purposefulness. Excerpts...
The Diamond Heart (238-1 Sunday 12/15/1963)
This talk given during the advent season focuses on our humanity striving toward having a 'diamond heart,' or someone who has come to crystalline purity and no longer allows the personality to intrude. Flower explains what is required to achieve this with Christ, the greatest diamond heart who ever lived, as our example. Excerpts...
Christ the Great Hierarch (238-2 Sunday 12/22/1963)
This talk helps to prepare one inwardly for the holy midnight hour of Christmas, which is essential to achieve a highly spiritual Christmas experience. Flower explains what is happening on the spiritual plane at this time, and what one must do to be receptive to the energy and blessings which are present. She emphasizes one should strive toward realization through attunement rather than anticipation of an inner experience or feeling. Excerpts...
Humanity's Need for Meditation (266-1 Sunday 12/6/1964)
We are responsible for our thinking and it must be improved. People who are difficult to us require our universal love and goodwill. Quotes from Thoreau given. Procedure for practice of concentration, meditation and contemplation given, and descriptions of each. Daily review of life rules is important. Meditation deals with higher levels of thought, not logical thinking. Suggested guidelines for meditations on 8 different days. Suggested meditation for Christmas and Easter. We should meditate on our possibilities and talents. Gandhi's life rules given. Excerpts...
Christmas is an Initiatory Reminder (268-1 Sunday 12/20/1964)
Christmas is the spirit of Christ made manifest and visible to man, transforming our outer lives. It is a time to adore the living Christ, the model of our own becoming. Christmas is a reminder of the first degree of initiation. Describes traits of initiates. A reborn soul has, as his or her predominant quality, obedience to superior development and attainment, and to everything that is above one in God. Describes symbolism of Christmas star, manger, Bethlehem, tree, bells, carols. Excerpts...
In Everything Give Thanks (292-2 Sunday 11/21/1965)
If we are grateful, we open spiritually. We are much more sensitive and responsive or receptive to the great glories that pour forth esoterically through the Christmas season. Thanksgiving is a period in which we recapitulate, reappraise and reexpress the many things for which we are grateful. It cleanses the feelings and makes them pure and God-aligned, and brings us into condition for enlightenment. Since our nation is the cradle of the new race, America is an archetype in its highest aspirations of those qualities which we all bless. On Thanksgiving day, we repeat the summarizing of that which our soul knows to have been good for us. The more we are grateful for shelter, for the joy of our loved family, for beauty, the more we appreciate those things, without being unduly attached to them, the more we will attract still more abundantly and ever better quality will come to us. Excerpts...
Easter's Meaning for Us (303-1 Sunday 4/10/1966)
The story of our Lord Christ is a continuing unfoldment. It is always glorious and beautiful to recognize at Easter and at Christmas how very much He has grown, and how much wider are the hosts that are about Him, and how many more persons He has claimed. The cross was not the ending for Him. It was only the beginning, and our Lord Christ is very much alive, so that we always include in addressing Him the term, Thou who art the Living Christ, because we consider that very important in rightly addressing this very great soul. Excerpts...
Thanksgiving's Transforming Power (318-1 Sunday 11/20/1966)
Thanksgiving opens the gates to the holy season of Christmas. Gratitude is the quality which reveals the beginning of greatness. In the inner planes, those who are perfected watch for these qualifications. First, gratitude, second, humility, and third, love. Keeping a gratitude journal helps us become more appreciative. Self-centeredness is an enemy of gratitude and greatness. Thanksgiving is transforming because it keeps us in the attitude of touching that which is holy and being immersed in it and blessed by it. Excerpts...
The Light That Fills the Hearts of Men (320-1 Sunday 12/25/1966)
Through Christ we receive the impulse of the Christing of our own nature. When the Lord Jesus became the Lord Emmanuel at His ascension, He became the director of the Christ Spirit and charged it with his own Beinghood. We have a twofold responsibility: firstly, to remember our Lord Christ and what he represents; secondly, we owe our Lord the increase of the Christ spirit, day by day, by making the commonplace uncommon. The meaning of Christmas is so deep because it unites the physical and eternal world, and it relates us to that part of us which has always belonged to God and will forever. When the Christ looks at you, he makes you feel as though he sees the God indwelling that you are becoming. He makes you know that he sees what you can be. Excerpts...
The Perennial Transformation (320-2 Sunday 1/1/1967)
In this New Year's Day talk, Flower begins by giving an esoterical translation of one of Thomas Mertonís books that relates to the holy cycle of the year. She talks about the importance of living our lives attuned to these cycles and shares the impact individuals have when living their lives in this way. She gives specific suggestions in how to live our lives in this way, and says we should strive to keep living Christmas daily. We must never leave the threshold of our consecration, our dedication, our gift to the Christ, our worship of the Divine Resources. Excerpts...
The Coming of Christ into our Hearts and Lives (545-2 Sunday 12/23/1973)
There is no more Divine event that has ever happened on earth than Nativity, the coming of the Christ. We look at Easter upwards and we know that there is a mighty event being celebrated of a tremendous attainment at that time, but it is so far ahead of us in our own unfoldment because of what it signifies; Easter does the completed degree of Lordship which our Lord had achieved. But Christmas celebrates His coming. Excerpts...
What All Men May Receive from Christmas (622-2 Sunday 12/19/1976)
Every year you should have grown in the deepening of your recognition of Who the Christ is. And as you begin to know Him, you will realize that He is someone who lives from the innermost and radiates light forward to the outermost in touching us, but He is of earth. Revering and loving Christ and recognizing that Christmas blesses us with many benefits and we have intuitionally to tune in to more and more of the opening of the lens of our inner reception. Excerpts...
The Mystical Side of Christianity (776-1 Sunday 12/19/1982)
Presented the Sunday before Christmas, this talk focuses on the history of the celebration of Christmas in the United States, preparations for Christmas, gifts to the Christ, expansion of Christ consciousness, Christ's message and the Christ temperament and character. Excerpts...

Christian Mysticism is simply a method of reverence and devotion to God. It is a path of attainment which leads to the Divine Reality–to first-hand knowing of God. The mystical path stresses the way of Divine union with God through illumination.
The Living Christ is the Lord of Angels and of men and the model of our own becoming. His service is the broadcasting of the Divine Christ Spirit, the light of redemption. His influence awakens in us the Christing of our own natures.
The Way of Discipleship is a way of drawing ever closer to the Divine Presence. It is a voluntary surrender of the entire self to the service of God. It pays great attention to spiritual realities and goals inspiring us toward inner growth.
Meditation and Prayer are the disciplines that most directly draw us Godward and into the inner worlds. During these moments, we consciously purify ourselves of worldly or personal preoccupations and center ourselves wholly upon consciousness of God.
The Angelic Kingdom consists of beings created by God. They, like mankind, press toward the goal of perfection and union with the Supreme Spirit. Angels are purer and more spiritual than man. Their very spirituality readily makes them mediators between Heaven and Earth.
Nature provides healing and enlightenment. When wisely trod, the path to God through nature employs every faculty inherent in man. In nature, beauty shines in all its pristine essence before us. It is for us to newly discover and translate this beauty to our spirits and our senses.
Reincarnation is the realization that life is a school, striving to awaken and quicken the Divinity within us, striving to bring man from primitive stages of unfoldment to that of greater and more glorious awareness.
The life and writings of Flower A. Newhouse are those of a Christian mystic, and her insights into the inner realms of life provide us with a path to wholeness that she called "Living the Life." These teachings are not doctrine, but a practical guide to the direct, immediate experience of God. Flower's mission was also to reawaken humanity to the reality of angels, a work she began with her first book in 1937, and added to in many published writings and in recorded lectures.
