The Use of Spiritual Laws Is Our Protective Shield - Part IV

Love for God Calls for Obedience

Obedience to law means that we will not just have a belief about these dynamics and these potencies that God wields in the operation of His laws throughout the cosmos. We will be obedient, not from a sense of duty any longer, but from a sense that we would be in rhythm with the laws. A wonderful thing happens when we are in perfect agreement, even with our tests that show us what we have yet to conquer. We must be in perfect agreement, for the Law teaches us that "Love is the fulfilling of the Law." Love is like the force which enables the aeroplane to transcend the downward pull of gravity.

Respectful obedience or use of spiritual principles is not enough. We need to love the justice, impersonality, and exactness of the Laws. We are not graduated from levels of experience until we fulfill the law in love.

Take a moment and reflect on the natural laws that you have studied and seen evidence of in your life. Flower says that we need to love the justice, impersonality, and exactness of the Laws. What love can you feel in this way?

The Law of Timing

The truism, "When the fruit is ripe it will fall," applies to the principle of Proper Timing. A self-appointed time works from within all things. Everything will progress from seed to flower or from birth to a greater rebirth, and we cannot interfere with the timing of the alternations. Should there be any condition under which events can be quickened, it would originate in our preparedness. Thus, if we labor to be ready in consciousness, character, health, and circumstances, our preparedness will bring about a commissioning, or a maturing of purpose. "Whenever the student is ready the Master will appear," spoke Krishna to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita. Do not mistake the call to preparation for the call to serve.

Many times we are unwilling to see relationships come to a close. The Law of Timing affects our personal lives, our prayers, our seed thoughts and their harvesting period. There is a timing too, of purpose, of friendship, of our mission in life, and of humanity's progress in a group sense. When we realize this we do not become discouraged or impatient. We do not try to interfere with the Law. We say to the Eternal Parent Source, "Thou knowest my need and that for which I desire to prepare myself. Therefore, according to Thy timing will I train myself to be content."

We must respect the Law of Timing when a loved one is called to Higher Spheres through transition. Our trust in the law helps us to discipline ourselves-enables us to free our loved ones, and to know that Love is mathematically attuned to everyone we have ever loved. Love will draw us to those persons again on the inner levels when we follow them into the higher regions of Light.

Does it not always come down to God's timing? This to me speaks of our trust in God. It often helps me to think of the immensity of God which sees the all in all of my life and beyond. I am only able to see a minute fraction of this. If I can release my idea of how God should fix things into this knowing of God, I can learn to trust God's solution over my own. Flower suggested we say to the Eternal Parent Source, "Thou knowest my need and that for which I desire to prepare myself. Therefore, according to Thy timing will I train myself to be content." Write this in your journal and reflect on it's meaning for you.

Appreciate the Laws

Another principle which bears constant recollection is that rule by which we are allowed use only through constructive and appreciative care. If our use of things is careless or abusive the right to them shall be withdrawn from us.

That is true of any apparatus we use, true of everything on the physical and subjective planes. Only by good, intelligent, and appreciative use shall we earn the right to persistent control, or utilization, of theses privileges and opportunities we know.

The Right Use of Laws Connects Us to God

Within the Creative Silence which surrounds us is a Reservoir of All-that-is. It is the Source of all we could ever need or desire. Much from this Repository could be channeled to us were we aware of the principles by which this realization could take place. To know and to use rightly forces by which we can fully and intelligently direct our growth should be one of our basic endeavors.

Knowledge protects as well as empowers. We are to be conveyors, transmitters, and transformers for the Good in even the most trivial incidents of living.

The all-knowing Self within liberates and enlightens us. This Self respects and utilizes spiritual laws understandingly, practicing confidence and patients in their outcome. Paul claimed, "The law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ." (Galatians 3:24)

At first, when the Laws affect us, we are troubled by the adverse reactions which return to us. Later, however, our conscience awakens, then discrimination; then we learn deeper respect for the Laws. Finally we come to a complete agreement with them and intelligent use of them.

As we apply the Schoolmaster's Wisdom, we see poverty changed by the use of faith; we learn to apply the Law of Peace, or Equilibrium, to discord, nervousness, restlessness, and fear. In self-forgetfulness, a new power emerges from within and is released, and as we respect the laws new elevations are achieve. Thus, we begin to understand what it means to be spiritually levitated in consciousness.

Isaiah's words show what the use of laws intends. He said, "The work of righteousness shall be peace, and the effects of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever." In metaphysical schools we know that righteousness means "right-use-ness of principles." Is it not true that according to the right-use-ness of our spiritual training and teaching, according to the right-use-ness laws, we come to inner peace? Through the right use of all that we know we find inner equilibrium and the assurance of steadfast improvement. At last through great reliance on spiritual dynamics, we do not strain or force ambitiously. We let the laws take care of all things as we are in alignment with them. Thus, at last, man becomes liberated from lashings of time and the limitations that his body knows. He comes into a new sense of freedom because he knows that in consciousness he can ascend above them. The day will arrive when his strong, controlled consciousness will lift up his entire environment , every gift within him and the world he knows-to ever higher degrees of attunement with the Living Presence of God.

Is not much esoteric knowledge superfluous to our present needs and purposes?

In reply to this question, I am reminded of Benjamin Franklin's answer to the query, "Of what use is the knowledge that lightning is electrical in nature?" "Of what use is a child?" pondered Franklin; and then went on to answer his own question. "He may grow into a man!" In colleges and universities, men are filled with instruction in order that, having learned the principles; they might practice law and medicine. All knowledge is gathered for use. We should learn just as much about the Divine Plan underlying life, as we do about the history, geography, government, and commerce of our nation.
