Take a moment and reflect on Christ's goal, pattern and your reflections with Him.

What does Christ now mean to you?
The following quotes bring us to our next discovery with Christ:
"The heritage the Christ bequeathed to us cannot be claimed until we actually begin to follow the directions He gave us. We must not be content with acceptance, we must be active in Christly accomplishments. Too many agree with their minds and lag behind in their efforts."
-Flower A. Newhouse, Christward, Volume I, p. 42
"The application of the Christ teaching excludes any attitude but that which is Godly. Walking in the light of the Christ doctrine we follow the pattern of forgiveness, integrity, praise, gratitude and gladness for everything that comes to us - the lessons as well as the conquests."
I am the way, the truth and the life.
-Flower A. Newhouse, Christward, Volume II, p. 8
"We have a two-fold responsibility: first, to remember our Lord Christ and what He represents to mankind - what his life, power and attainment mean to our own overcoming and achievement. Secondly, we owe our Lord the increase of the Christ Spirit, day by day, by making the commonplace uncommon - by making that which is unclean turn to purity and that which is full of discord come once again to harmony. Then, we can become coworkers with Christ; His kingdom is manifested through every heart that is aligned to him."
-Flower A. Newhouse, Collected Works, Volume I, p. 98
What do these quotes speak to for you? Flower has called this the Christing of our entire being. This requires daily training on our part to help these Christ qualities translate into our living.

Listen To Flower introduce Christ as our transformer
|
![]() | What does she mean when she says, "He has now become that transformer? |
Reread this passage from Flower:
"He has now become that transformer, that touches spiritual essence throughout all regions including physical matter and makes it something that can be as Christified. It is the duty of every single Christian to Christify the matter or the atoms within His own body temple, as well as His emotional, mental, and character being, so that He truly belongs to our Lord in the greatest sense."
![]() | How can you best Christify your being? |
![]() | Listen to Flower speak to your need to follow Christ in your trust in God |
Reflect on this passage from Flower:
"...because rigidity has to give way to true inner growth. Whatever is restrictive will be loosed and freed. That which is whole and unifying, compassionate and giving will come to the foreground through the new Christ dispensation."
![]() | Sometimes the most difficult part of our spiritual growing is facing the restrictions that come forth within ourselves that need to be loosed and freed. What restrictions are you aware of within yourself? |
![]() |
Reflect on these words from Flower:
"He is always aware of trials we meet when the forces of degradation would try to pull us back into the shadows, into egotism, into self importance and self centeredness, into these things which we should have outgrown long ago, when we first learned of our Lord."
Daily training is a lifelong adventure. It certainly cannot be fully addressed in a single lesson. But you can begin with a data gathering assessment to discover the character traits that you are inwardly drawn to work on this life.
This is just a beginning exercise. You will be taking this much farther in Unit 2.
![]() | Start by making a list of prior goals you have had in your life.
Look for patterns and goals yet unfinished. Make a list of areas within yourself that needs to be lifted. |
![]() | R7 Before you get overwhelmed by the list you just created in the previous activity, reflect on these words of Flower from Lesson 7: "Our Lord Emmanuel is God with us." "Every one of us is able to contact the Lord Emmanuel God with us, whenever we through prayer, meditation and unselfish living, plumb the depths of our own inner beings." "As we do that, nothing that is superficial, nothing that is immodest, nothing that is false or impure, or unspiritual, shall ever arise again." "For as long as we hold to the soulic consciousness, the elements of the Christ spirit, that are like the very aura of the planet, begin to include us, baptize us, feed us spiritually and creatively, even as we are communicating with its great reservoir." |
We need to remind ourselves of just what support is behind us in Christ to help us do spiritually what we have come in to do.
Say to yourselves silently (3 times): Lord Emmanuel - God with us.
Now read the words on card R7.
Take a day(s) and make this your effort.

Questions and answers with Flower A. Newhouse (excerpted from Here Are Your Answers, Volumes I, II and III)
![]() | What specific qualities indicate that we have great love for the Lord Christ? |
![]() | One quality which would indicate how much we think of our Lord would be that of a great reverence for this One most advanced; then appreciation for Him and all He stands for as well as the fortitude and self-surrender that have made Him Christ. Next would come the characteristic of spiritual and universal love given to human beings, to the creatures and to the growing things of nature. Dedication to Christ and His Cause would be the keystone upon which our lives are based. (HAYA II, p. 34) |

The life and writings of Flower A. Newhouse are those of a Christian mystic, and her insights into the inner realms of life provide us with a path to wholeness that she called "Living the Life." These teachings are not doctrine, but a practical guide to the direct, immediate experience of God. Flower's mission was also to reawaken humanity to the reality of angels, a work she began with her first book in 1937, and added to in many published writings and in recorded lectures.
