Foreword

This volume is dedicated to the purpose of giving every person the realization that he cannot afford to miss meditation.

Flower A. Newhouse, mystic, seer, and metaphysical teacher, brings to these pages the clarity of her developed processes of creative meditation. Here is one who speaks out of the vastness of her own experience and experiments in the art of mediation-a master technician in this enlightening science of concentration and unfoldment.

Through the totality of her consciousness, (Mrs. Newhouse has been clairvoyant since childhood) she brings to the reader, varied techniques and creative approaches to the experience of mediation. This book is a resource book to refer to again and again as the student experiences and proves the unlimited possibilities of spiritual awareness that mediation brings.

Joy Day, 1974

Into this book has gone all the best of what we've taught on meditation in the past as well as new material and sharings. We wish this book to be our manual for meditation. You will find some repetitions of exercises and explanations because of our belief that repetition serves a useful and helpful purpose.

Sample Excerpts

The highest good cannot be attracted to us unless we have definitely and clearly planned it.

Our lives remain unproductive and unenlightened until we practice meditation. It is a certain and safe procedure whereby we create and enjoy the good we seek.

The act of prayer unites us with the vital currents of Deity. By no other method could we be worthily and preparedly aligned to these wavelengths.

Prayer lights up the switchboard of the Ever-Present Deity and this light of request signals help from the realm of the Eternal.

A lifeline is swung into eternity by prayer from the sphere of the impermanent.

From the earliest ranks of humanity men have realized that their highest acts were those of prayer. There is no higher way to help anyone than to pray for them.

We can meditate or pray whenever we wish, but contemplation is something that happens within us when we are involved in deep devotional states.

Questhaven Retreat is dedicated to serving one's vital need to prayerfully repledge themselves. Here, in the quiet haven of peaceful hills, individuals from all walks of life may come to reconsecrate themselves to God and Christ, and find answers to their innermost quest. Sunday Services 10:45am.

About Authors

The life and writings of Flower A. Newhouse are those of a Christian mystic, and her insights into the inner realms of life provide us with a path to wholeness that she called "Living the Life." These teachings are not doctrine, but a practical guide to the direct, immediate experience of God. Flower's mission was also to reawaken humanity to the reality of angels, a work she began with her first book in 1937, and added to in many published writings and in recorded lectures.

Dr. Stephen Isaac was a teacher, counselor, and consultant in various public schools, universities, and private industries. Dr. Isaac maintained a life-long interest in Questhaven Retreat, and Flower A. Newhouse, whom he met when he was ten years old. Ordained a minister in this work in 1952, he served as a regular speaker and as its director.

Phyllis Isaac resides on the grounds at Questhaven and has known Flower A. Newhouse since she was a child. She has been a life long student of her work and serves the Retreat as a minister, speaker, workshop coordinator, editor, and counselor.
