Mothers, as well as all women, represent the feminine aspect, or principle, of God. This aspect is known by various terms, such as the Spirit of Mother Light; the Spirit of Revelation; or the Spirit of Enfolding Life. These various terms indicate a wide variety of expressions of this aspect. Mothers' Day honors especially the women who have taken on the role of Motherhood in this life. That role requires a great variety of expressions of service, caring and self-giving. On this special day let us honor and be grateful to our Mothers, remembering the words of our Lord to the Disciple John, 'Behold your Mother.'

1/6/2013 Living the Life: Bringing Us from Knowledge to Wisdom

As we enter a New Year and examine our goals, we could ask ourselves, How much wisdom have I gained from the knowledge gathered in the past year? There are three aspects of Christ's teachings we have been told we need to practice: the gathering of spiritual knowledge; improvement of our devotions; and living the life. When we use the knowledge we have gathered and live the life, that knowledge can become wisdom. When we achieve wisdom it becomes a permanent part of who we are.

We each create our own private sea of consciousness which becomes our reality. It contains our thoughts, feelings and how we perceive others. One of the Great Ones stated, ''It is time to pay heed to your earthly effort toward the Kingdom of Light toward which you strive.'' How do we pay heed to our earthly efforts to reach higher states of consciousness? It requires us to attune ourselves to higher dimensions; to be open and receptive to higher guidance. To become more open and sensitized to the deeper realities all around us we must be open on all planes of our beings. Many of the Angelic beings don't function below the soul or causal level, so we must reach higher in our consciousness to tune in to them. All the doors of our beings must be open if we want to receive intuitions or higher guidance of any kind. That brings us back to the importance of the alignment technique and an awareness or recognition of how each vehicle functions and how they work together to bring us to a deeper attunement with God.

8/19/2007 Lift Up Your Heads, O Ye Gates, and Let the King of Glory Come In

''Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.'' Ps. 24:7. This verse is such a beautiful promise of what awaits us when we are willing to open the gates of our beings. So often our Lord made statements such as “Ask and ye shall receive,” “Knock and it shall be opened to you.” We are continually reminded that we must lift up our heads, open our consciousness, knock on the inner doors and the King of glory shall come in. All of those principles are stressed over and over again when we are reminded of the importance of regular prayer and meditation times. Those are the times that we lift up our heads to God, we align ourselves to the God Spirit that indwells us, and we allow His Spirit to guide us. When we obey we will experience the King of glory.

7/22/2007 Holy Messengers-Great Souls Who Inspire Us

The most inspiring soul our humanity has or ever will know is the Lord Christ. He was the highest of all the holy messengers that God sent to earth. Even though He only spent 33 years in physical form in that life, the ripple effect from His influence is still spreading throughout the earth. Those closest to Him during his life as Jesus, His disciples and apostles, each went out into the world in subsequent lives continuing to spread the influence from that one great soul. We, too, are recipients of the Christ's influence and are responsible for doing our part in continuing to spread His Light.

6/17/2007 Fatherhood's Opportunities and Challenges

Parenthood is perhaps one of the most challenging tasks that we face in our path of evolution, yet it is one of the greatest opportunities for growth that we will encounter. The role of the mother has always been pretty well defined, but the role of fatherhood is continually changing. Fathers today are becoming much more involved with the raising of their children. From a spiritual standpoint the mother is responsible not only for nurturing the child, but also for the child's spiritual growth. The role of the father is not only to provide outer needs, but to acquire patience, self-sacrifice and insight into the forming characters of his children. He is intended to encourage, strengthen and teach his children through his friendship. Bill Cosby wrote a humorous book about fatherhood, but his underlying message to all fathers is quite serious: ''Care for, nurture, and discipline your children, and do it all with love!''

''As a man thinketh in his heart so is he'' is the first principle we learn in metaphysics. Thoughts can be either constructive or destructive and they manifests outwardly in our lives according to their kind. Individuals who are negative in their consciousness tune into thought streams that have a destructive and disintegrating influence. Likewise, those who strive to keep their minds attuned to constructive thoughts such as love, peace, joyousness, faith, etc. will find they attract like a magnet the blessings from both the inner and outer worlds. Thoughts do have power and as spiritual aspirants it is our responsibility to learn to control them. ''Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee.'' Job 22:28.

3/11/2007 Steps to Maturity-The Way of Spiritual Trust

''Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and rely not on your own wisdom.'' Prov. 3:5. Spiritual trust is the most fundamental part of our whole belief system. We begin with our basic belief in God. God is unknowable; He has no form, yet we trust that HE IS. All of creation is evidence of His handiwork, His infinite wisdom, and His great plan for evolving life. On our spiritual journey Godward it is through trust that we are able to surrender all that is impure within us, knowing that God's wisdom, love and guidance will bring us safely through all of life's testings. Through trust in God His truth shall be our shield and buckler.

Spiritual development and our unfoldment is our highest potential and our deepest need. We have been taught a great deal about the importance of learning to visualize our goals. The more clearly we can visualize whatever we are working towards, the sooner that will be manifest in this dimension. The beginning of a New Year is a good time to re-evaluate what we envision our lives to become. We came into this life unfinished. Our work now is to help bring about the transformations necessary to achieve the goals we envision.

Spiritual stewardship is a subject we should think about often. When we refer to being on a spiritual path, we are not just talking about time spent in study, prayer or meditation. Our entire evolutionary journey includes learning to plan and manage our time, resources and energy. God has given us a mind to think and plan our actions and goals and a physical body to carry them out. Learning to use all our faculties to their very highest capabilities is all part of our journey back to God. These lessons bring challenges as well as blessings, but when they are well learned they bring spiritual growth.

Consciousness functions on every dimension and through every faculty we have in our 7-fold being. We are here on this physical plane in order to grow in consciousness, to bring through insights and guidance from higher sources and put them into practice on this plane. We need to exercise in consciousness everything we have been taught. Every day we must apply God-consciousness to whatever task we might be doing, no matter how mundane. We will be tested throughout life especially in the little things, so it is very important that we apply the deepest type of Christian consciousness to every activity. The Great Ones watch how we react to the so-called 'unimportant' things more than They watch our major trials.

Healing is a subject of interest to all of us because we all encounter problems with our bodies at some time during our lives. But healing goes much deeper than just what appears on the outer. By the time a condition reaches the physical plane it has already existed for some time in our consciousness. In order to have complete healing we must learn the inner side of our condition and correct that, as well as to care for the physical manifestation. The Masters have told us that we must assume as vigilant a control and command of our inward lives as we have learned to do on the outer.

7/23/2006 Our Relationship to the Great Path

We hear so many references to a Spiritual Path, but what does that mean to us? What is our relationship to it? We have come to a place in our evolution where we realize that we are on a journey of return to God. This Path of Return requires us to make choices in life that will help us on that journey, and eliminate the negatives that prevent our progress. When humanity was ready God sent the Christ to lead us on that Path of Return and to be the Exemplar to show us what our ultimate development will be. This journey constitutes our Path and the teachings of the Christ give us the knowledge needed to understand our relationship towards it. ''O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and his ways past finding out.'' Rom. 11:33.

6/4/2006 The Beauty of Wholeness

Beauty is a subject we are all familiar with. We are accustomed to recognizing beauty in persons, in different expressions of art, and the limitless kinds of beauty found in nature. Kant states that anything which reveals symmetry and unity of structure is beautiful, as if it had been designed by intelligence. Schopenhauer believed that the ultimate joy lies in the creation or cherishing of the beautiful. There is also beauty in wholeness that we should become more aware of. All that we become or create begins within us, with the higher aspects of our beings that express wholeness. From our souls upward we are whole, and when that wholeness is expressed in our outer lives it is beautiful.

''Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.'' We all profess to be Christians, but how has Christ changed our lives? The work of the Christ Spirit is regeneration and transformation, so when we allow that Spirit to enter us we must change, we must become new creatures. The old negatives within us must pass away. Just paying lip service to the Christ isn't enough. The transformations within us must be permanent so that we might become wielders of the Light.

2/26/2006 Finding Balance Through the Seven Rays of Unfoldment

One of the most helpful things we can learn on our human journey is to understand other people. We all have differences and often there is a tendency to be critical or judgmental when we encounter those differences. Knowledge about the 7 rays of life upon which God created us helps us to understand why others see things differently than we do and we can learn to appreciate those differences. All of the rays are equal and they all lead us back to God in their own unique and individual ways.

1/15/2006 Faith-The Bridge to Progress

Faith is a bridge to progress, for without it we cannot make that step into the unknown that proves our trust in God. It is easy to make the statement that we have faith about something - we will be healed – our financial needs will be met – we will be guided in the right direction. But often our claims to faith are not based on faith in God, but rather just on self-confidence which relates to our personality selves. True faith is complete trust in God and His wisdom in answering our need in the best way possible. There is a step into the unknown that can only be crossed with a bridge of faith.

Talking with God is one of the best ways to draw closer to Him. Talking ''with'' God as opposed to talking ''to'' God implies a two-way conversation. It confirms the belief that God is here present, listening to us, rather than being some vague presence that is being addressed. It also implies that in a two-way conversation we also listen to Him. Forming the habit of frequently communing with God not only keeps Him in the foreground of our consciousness, but it raises our consciousness to a higher level. It strengthens our faith in a Divine Presence Who is interested in what we have to say and is willing to help us meet our needs. It also keeps us attuned to our own souls which are the direct link to God.

The word 'mysticism' is often confusing and in some cases causes people to back off or be cautious. This occurs because mysticism is often associated with psychism or some form of fanatical practice. Actually, a mystic is simply a person who is seeking a direct path to God. It doesn't have anything to do with the Ray the person is on or what his particular doctrine or creed might be. Any person who needs God and desires a direct confirmation of His reality is a mystic.

8/21/2005 The Seasons and Cycles of Life

There are many different cycles and seasons which we humans pass through on our journey Godward. Each one brings a different rhythm and influence which affects our lives. We have been told by the Perfected Ones that we are influenced by the inflowing and outflowing tides of spiritual forces. These tides are natural and rhythmical. There are periods when we don't feel any stimulus and our efforts seem difficult. Other times we feel charged with new ideas and enthusiasm. The better we understand these cycles the more prepared we will be to use our time wisely.

7/10/2005 The Inner Values of Summer

As the seasons change we can sense a difference, even though we don't experience extreme weather changes. Some season changes can be seen outwardly, but there is much taking place on the inner that is not visible to most of us. At the time of the vernal festival that just occurred about three weeks ago a change took place in the supervision of our planet. Not only do changes take place outwardly in nature as it passes through the seasons, but we also experience seasons in our growth. Summer is a time for the growth of seeds that were planted in the spring, a time to prepare for the harvest to come in the fall. Inwardly we also have seasons of planting, of growth and of harvest. As we experience this season of growth let us be more aware of the inner values of the summer season so that we will have a greater harvest in the fall.

Character must be achieved it cannot be given to us by others. As we consciously make an effort to improve ourselves the finer character qualities unfold within us. Since the time of our Lord there have been many wonderful, enlightened souls who have followed His teachings. Their lives have been like lamps along the way encouraging and inspiring us to follow our Lord. They all had a strong faith in God which sustained them through all their trials; they all had courage to stand by their beliefs even if it cost them their lives – which it often did; they all had love and compassion for others; they were not influenced by current popular trends of the times, but were faithful to follow the way of our Lord. We can learn much from their exampleship of how to live in our own times and circumstances.

The Rev. Flower A. Newhouse stated that the spiritual development of love is what we need most in the world. When our Lord assumed the office of Christ, humanity came under a new dispensation. No longer was the law ''an eye for an eye'' in effect, but rather the law of love. He taught love for God and love for our neighbor; compassion, caring and forgiveness. In St. John 15:12 He stated, ''This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.''

1/30/2005 The Many Aspects of Consciousness

The human aura has other levels of consciousness, just as the earth has other planes of consciousness. As we become more aware of the different levels of consciousness and how we can learn to raise them we can take an active part in our own spiritual growth. We must be continually growing in inner self-control and to do this we must achieve a greater degree of consciousness. The Rev. Flower A. Newhouse has said, ''Whatever we give birth to in consciousness causes us to know a complete change of the outer circumstances of our lives.''

As we journey through life there are many different paths that will lead us to God. The way of the mystic is the most direct path. The Rev. Flower A. Newhouse has said that the goal of every religion is to bring man to mysticism. Mysticism has nothing to do with any particular doctrine, theology, phenomena or psychism, but is the direct experience of communing with God. Regardless of what path we have chosen to travel on our return to God, we will all ultimately become mystics for all persons who are illumined experience the mystical consciousness.

On the journey Godward every sincere seeker of Truth comes to a place where his consciousness breaks through the barriers of former limitations and emerges into the Light of a wider world. To reach the stage of Masterhood there are five of these major barriers we must pass through which are referred to as the ''Gates of Initiation.'' Only through consecrated living and overcoming our unspiritual qualities can we hasten these mileposts of initiation that bring us closer to God.

As Americans we should feel blessed and privileged to be citizens of this country. Our Founding Fathers were guided to establish a constitution for this new country that declared all people to have been born equal and to have a free choice as to our religious beliefs. That was necessary in order for our country to fulfill its destiny as planned by the Hierarchy who serve the Inner Government. America was to be the seedbed for the cradle of the New Race, as other countries have been in the past ages. As a nation under God may we all help to bring about our country's destiny.

Life consists of everything we encounter each day, and its meaning and purpose are often debated. Death is an experience we will each encounter, but it is shrouded with mystery and even fear for many. It completes each cycle of physical life. Immortality is accepted by many, but questioned and even disbelieved by others. When we come to the place where we understand more about immortality, we will also understand more about the purpose of life and death. These subjects are part of the whole which comprises the journey of our individual beings and God's plan for our unfoldment.

Spiritually, animals are our younger brothers, yet we learn so much from them. They teach us that love can be unconditional and that any mistreatment or neglect can be forgiven. They are loyal and steadfast in their devotion, and having them in our care greatly enriches our lives. But we humans, who are more evolved, have a great responsibility towards this line of evolution, as we are reminded in this quote from These, Too, Shall Be Loved by Flower A. Newhouse: 'It has been said that just as man lifts his hand upward, that it may be clasped by a loving Angel, so must he extend his helpfulness downward to touch and influence for good the lives of the creatures.'

Each season of the year has a special purpose in God's plan and also a spiritual meaning. Winter brings the power of quietness and withdrawal; it is a time of inner reflection. This season can be considered as the inbreathing of God. Symbolically we have taken in the harvests of Fall, the high spiritual events of Christmas and New Year, now we nurture and reflect on what has been gathered before the next outbreathing of God which brings the resurgence of new life in the Springtime. Winter brings the opportunity for inner reflection and planning to prepare for the season of growth ahead.

As Christians, the Christ is the most powerful influence in our lives. In the Quest Lessons Rev. Flower A. As we approach Christmas, let us consider more deeply how Christ does influence our lives and how we might bring Him more closely into the range of our daily focus.

As we approach the Holy Season of Christmas it is a good time to review what we have accomplished so far this year. At the beginning of the year many of us made great vows for the things we hoped to accomplish throughout the year. We planted the seeds for those accomplishments, but how well did we cultivate and nurture them? It is time now to harvest the crops from those seeds. Will they be worthy to offer the Christ? We can still make a dedicated effort to bring about the desired changes and growth that we hoped for. This is a worthy effort, for as Flower Newhouse stated, ''All self-disciplines and purifications which man undergoes are for the express purpose of preparing him to realize God.

6/8/2003 The Joys and Challenges of Karma

''Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.'' This verse from Galatians 6:7 sums up the principle of the Law of Karma, or the Law of Cause and Effect. We have created our present conditions by our actions in the past, and we are now in the process of creating our futures. Whatever seeds we sow, both good and bad, will be harvested at some later time. This is a wise law which brings to us exactly what we have earned.
